Happy birthday to our Karri. 🤍

If you’ve been around Skincura for any amount of time, chances are you know and love Karri.

She’s been here since the beginning. She’s seen every version of this place, grown through every season with us, and somehow, through all of it, has remained the person who is always taking care of everyone else.

If you know Karri, you know.

She’s cleaning up after all of us. She’s checking to make sure everyone is okay. She notices the little things nobody else notices. She makes sure the new person feels comfortable. She answers the questions. She shows up early. She stays late. She makes us laugh when we probably need it most.

We call her the mom of Skincura, and there really isn’t a better way to describe her.

But maybe our favorite thing about Karri is that the way she loves all of us is exactly how she loves her patients.

They become her people.

She remembers what’s happening in their lives. She checks on them after they leave. She celebrates things with them, worries about them, laughs with them, and somewhere along the way, so many of them stop feeling like patients and start feeling like friends.

After all these years, she still never misses a training. She still wants to learn. She still cares about getting better. And somehow, she’s also become our unofficial Instagram comedian. 😂 If there’s a ridiculous Reel to be made, we already know who we’re asking. She’s always willing to have fun with us and never takes herself too seriously. And every September, her birthday month becomes Kartember. 🥳

There are people who have been with a business since the beginning, and then there are people who helped shape it into what it is.

Karri is one of those people.

Not just because of how good she is at what she does, but because of how deeply she cares about the people she does it for.

She has spent years making all of us feel taken care of, and today we just hope she knows how incredibly loved she is in return.

Because truly, to know Karri is to love her. 💕

You finally feel like your dark spots are fading… and then one sunny weekend later, they’re right back. 😩

If you deal with melasma, you probably know this cycle way too well. It can improve, look lighter for a while, and then flare again from things like sun exposure, heat, and hormonal changes.

That’s also why melasma usually isn’t something we look at as a one-treatment-and-done concern.

The bigger goal is figuring out what’s triggering your pigmentation, what your skin can tolerate, and how we can manage it over time without constantly starting back at square one.

For one person, that may mean focusing heavily on daily SPF and a consistent at-home routine. For someone else, we may incorporate professional treatments once the skin is in a good place for them.

And if you’ve tried random brightening products, facials, or treatments before and still feel like the pigmentation keeps coming back, that doesn’t necessarily mean “nothing works.” It may just mean you need a more intentional plan for melasma specifically.

Some people come to us convinced their under-eyes are just something they have to live with. They feel like they’ve tried everything under the sun. One of our answers is something you don’t hear everyday: we use your own blood 🩸🫣

For this patient, we did three sessions total: two PRP treatments and one PRF treatment.

So what actually is PRP, and why would we put it under your eyes?

Think of it like taking one of your body’s own repair tools, concentrating it, and putting it exactly where we want it to work.

Your blood contains something called platelets, which carry growth factors your body uses during healing and tissue repair. With PRP, we draw your blood, separate out a platelet-rich portion, and place that concentrated plasma into the under-eye area. Those growth factors then help signal processes involved in collagen production and tissue remodeling, which can improve the look of thin, crepey, textured undereye skin over time.

Then there’s PRF. Think of PRP and PRF a little like immediate-release versus extended-release medication. They both come from your own blood and use platelets and growth factors, but the way we process them changes how those growth factors are delivered.

PRP has a stronger initial release of growth factors, while the fibrin matrix in PRF allows for a slower, more sustained release.

If you’ve looked at your under-eyes and thought, “There’s no fixing this,” you may just not have been introduced to the right treatment plan yet.

People always think they need to know what treatment they want before they even walk through the door. But that’s not our message when we say “we fix your skin.”

You can literally come in and say, “I don’t know what I need, I just know THIS is driving me crazy.” We actually love that.

Maybe it’s the texture you see every time you put on makeup, the breakouts that keep coming back, or that one thing you’ve been staring at in the mirror for the last six months.
