This is a typical frame pulled out of the bee box. What you see is capped brood. At the very top edges and corners, you will also see capped honey. Food (nectar, pollen, honey) are kept close to the developing new bees to feed them constantly. The scattered open cells could be hygenic behavior; meaning the nurse bees may have sensed something wrong with that particular egg/larva/pupa and removed it.

Tire cutout…in their to home. Feed and plenty of space. Hopefully they stay… to be continued.

Mainly, this is to add out side genetics into the apiary.

Queen Rearing Update!
All 12 of our accepted grafts are now capped queen cells! We started with 18 grafts on September 18th, had 12 accepted, and all 12 have now made it to the capped-cell stage. Next is setting up the 2-frame mating nucs on September 28th and getting these girls ready for emergence.
Pretty amazing what the bees can build in just a few days.
Have you ever seen a queen cell up close?

First time grafting queens. 12 out of 18 accepted. I’ll take it. Not bad for the first time.
