I developed Second Skin Liquid Velvet to address tf that most of you are using your moisturizers wrong.
Moisturizers often use humectants to lock in and capture hydration at the surface of your skin. The problem is, if there isn't enough water in the air, the humectant will draw water from deeper layers of your skin, effectively dehydrating you at your core.
Layering Second Skin Liquid Velvet hydration booster underneath your moisturizer will not only prevent TEWL, but will empower your moisturizer to work at its best.
This formulation is intentionally simple and clean. You do not need an active in every product competing with each other. More often than not, less is more, and your skin just wants to be hydrated 💦
Liquid Velvet also doubles as a lightweight post-treatment hydrator. Panthenol soothes compromised barriers while glycerin and pullulan help lock in moisiture and create a physical barrier

the sun's uvb rays help us synthesize the vitamin d already within our bodies (from nutritional means) and even an spf of 100 cannot fully block this allowance 🫠☀️
wearing sunscreen is important and those 20-30 minutes of "vitamin d therapy" are damaging your skin. the doctor who told you to do it is not a dermatologist (bc they would never) and does not automatically have an expert-level grasp on every aspect of medicine. this is why doctors specialize. talk to a skincare specialist or a skin doctor if you have any further questions 🫶

Remember when I said I was putting adapalene under petroleum jelly despite the skincare commandments?
Here’s what happened 🫠
Less dryness. Less irritation. A happier barrier. And, most importantly, I was actually able to stay consistent with my adapalene instead of spending every other night wondering why my face felt like parchment 💦
No, this isn’t proof that everyone should start slathering petrolatum over their retinoid. Occlusion can increase hydration and potentially increase pe*******on, which is exactly why this approach can backfire for some people 🚨
But skincare isn’t a religion, and “never do this” isn’t the same thing as a scientific explanation 🧪
This worked for my skin, with my tolerance, using a controlled amount 😎
The goal isn't to survive your skincare routine. The goal is to build one your skin can actually tolerate consistently 💪

yes, I know the skincare police say not to slug adapalene under petroleum jelly. And yes, I did it anyway. 💀
Here’s the part that gets lost in the internet discourse: petroleum jelly itself isn’t inherently “bad” with adapalene. It’s an occlusive, meaning it reduces transepidermal water loss and helps support the skin barrier. The concern is that occlusion can potentially increase hydration and pe*******on of topical medications, which may also increase irritation.
So if adapalene + a thick layer of petrolatum makes your face feel like it’s been chemically evicted from its own barrier, congratulations: this experiment probably isn’t for you.
But for my skin? A very thin layer of adapalene followed by a controlled amount of petrolatum has been completely tolerable and helps me manage dryness without abandoning the retinoid altogether.
The important distinction: “can increase pe*******on” does NOT automatically mean “never combine these.” It means understand the pharmacology, start conservatively, monitor irritation, and don't confuse one person’s tolerance with universal advice.
