✨ Waxing Appointment Do’s & Don’ts ✨

Getting ready for your wax? Follow these tips for the safest, smoothest results!

✅ DO:
• Let your hair grow to about ¼ inch (the length of a grain of rice).
• Gently exfoliate the area 24–48 hours before your appointment.
• Arrive with clean, dry skin.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
• Stay hydrated.
• Let me know about any medications, skin conditions, allergies, or recent cosmetic treatments before your appointment.

❌ DON’T:
• Shave between appointments.
• Apply lotions, oils, deodorant (for underarm waxing), or self-tanner on the day of your appointment.
• Use retinol, tretinoin, adapalene, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or other exfoliating products on the area for several days before your wax.
• Wax skin that is sunburned, irritated, cut, or healing.
• Schedule a wax immediately after a chemical peel, laser treatment, or microneedling on the same area.
• Take Accutane (isotretinoin) or have taken it recently without discussing it first—waxing may not be safe.
• Start a new prescription topical acne medication without informing your esthetician.
• Take blood-thinning medications or supplements without letting your esthetician know. These can increase the chance of redness, pinpoint bleeding, or bruising. This includes medications such as warfarin (Coumadin), apixaban (Eliquis), rivaroxaban (Xarelto), clopidogrel (Plavix), as well as some supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo, and turmeric. Never stop a prescribed medication just for a waxing appointment unless your healthcare provider tells you to.
• Drink excessive alcohol before your appointment, as it can make your skin more sensitive and may increase bruising.
• Consume large amounts of caffeine right before your appointment if you’re sensitive, as it may make the experience less comfortable.

✨ A little redness after waxing is completely normal and usually fades within a few hours. Some people—especially those with sensitive skin or those taking certain medications—may also experience temporary swelling, tenderness, or mild bruising.

If you’re ever unsure whether waxing is right for you, just ask! Your safety and comfort always come first. 💛
