Is Laser Safe for Darker Skin Types? YES! Using CO2 lasers for scar removal on darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) is considered an advanced procedure that is safe & effective, but it carries a higher risk of complications if not performed correctly. I have over 15 years of experience using Lasers & all different Modalities on all skin types. I have effectively treated thousands of clients & am highly skilled due to a very high repetition of difficult cases, scars & frequently participate in more advanced learning as well as performing my own trials within my legal scope of what I am able to perform. I use the CoRE2 Co2 Laser by Candela. It is the most advanced technology with a very wide range of uses due to the wide range of treatment parameters it can accommodate. For clients the most annoying part of the process and the primary concern is Post-Inflammatory (PIH)—which is a temporary darkening of the skin—due to higher melanin levels, which happens normally to almost all clients that I treat. This temporary pigmentation goes away at the end of your sessions. You must be prepared for the aftercare & proper healing care after all of your sessions for the fastest results and best results.
