The magic of seed saving & sharing 🌱

August sits at the peak of summer and beginning of harvest season in the northern hemisphere.

The garden begins turning its abundance inward.

Fruit ripens. Flowers go to seed. Herbs become more potent. Preparation for the next season has begun. You can feel it in the morning air. The crispness of fall.

Saving seeds is an act of remembrance. Gratitude for what grew and nourished in this season, saved in hopes of abundant seasons to come. A single flower I snipped and admired in a vase offers the possibility of many blooms in many more gardens.

Gathering the gifts of this summer as an offering of new beginnings for future years is the greatest form of wealth I can think to offer. The more you give, the more there is for others to give. So, this August, remember to:

Give gratitude to the garden.
Gather what she offers.
Keep some, share some.
Plant some, and trust the rest.

I have lots of calendula, marigold, dill, coriander, and poppy seeds already packaged. Radish and broccoli seed pods are still green but coming soon and I have a nifty little vintage toolbox full of other seeds I’ve received, collected, or purchased as well to share.
