☼ COOLING FOODS FOR SUMMER ☼

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is governed by the Fire element—a season of warmth, growth, movement, and abundant Yang energy. While this outward energy supports vitality and connection, too much internal heat can leave us feeling overheated, restless, irritable, dehydrated, or mentally scattered.

Rather than relying on iced foods and beverages, which TCM believes can dampen digestive fire, the focus is on incorporating cooling foods and herbs that naturally help clear heat, replenish fluids, and restore balance from within.

Seasonal foods like cucumber, watermelon, pear, celery, mung beans, lotus root, seaweed, snow fungus, chrysanthemum, mint, and barley have traditionally been used to help:

• Clear excess heat
• Support hydration and replenish body fluids
• Promote healthy digestion during warmer months
• Calm the Heart and soothe the mind
• Reduce feelings of irritability and restlessness
• Nourish the skin and support healthy circulation

One of the foundational principles of TCM is living in rhythm with nature. As the seasons shift, so should the foods we eat. Choosing fresh, seasonal ingredients is a simple yet powerful way to support your body’s natural intelligence and align with the energy of summer.

While June’s full moon takes its name from the season’s strawberry harvest, this lunation invites us to reflect on a different kind of abundance—the slow, steady rewards that come from patience, discipline, and devotion to what truly matters.

Capricorn reminds us that lasting growth is rarely built overnight. Under this moon, we’re called to release outdated responsibilities, expectations, and patterns that no longer support the future we’re working toward, while recommitting to the structures, habits, and relationships that do.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, this full moon arrives during the height of Summer, the season of the Fire Element and the Heart. Sharing Loving Kindness practices that steady the mind, the body and open the heart, bringing peace and joy into your daily life, your relationships, and world.

Sessions are held in a safe and confidential space, and include a brief talk, a guided meditation and time for Q+A and sharing.

Together, explore simple, accessible mindfulness practices grounded in awareness of the body, breath, emotions, and thoughts, with an emphasis on practical tools for daily life.
