You would never know it by looking at her, but Chelsea is approximately 70% gray from her hairline through the crown of her head.
And would you believe me if I told you she went TEN MONTHS between highlight appointments?!
That is the beauty of intentional highlighting. When highlights are strategically placed and meticulously woven to complement a client’s natural hair color, the grow-out can be incredibly seamless. Chelsea can go months and months without needing her highlights touched up because her natural gray blends beautifully with the blonde.
No root tap. No root smudge. No gloss.
I take extremely fine, delicate weaves and allow the lightener to process until the hair inside each foil reaches the palest yellow. When the hair lifts this cleanly, there is no need for an additional gloss.
After rinsing, I shampoo using a combination of non-toning shampoo and blue shampoo, followed by non-toning conditioner and purple conditioner.
Why both blue and purple?
Blue pigments help neutralize orange undertones and can contribute to a cooler, icier finish, while purple pigments neutralize yellow undertones to help create a cleaner, whiter-looking blonde. It’s all about understanding color theory and knowing how to use it to your advantage.
And can we please talk about this BLOWOUT?!
Chelsea has naturally curly hair, which makes her an incredible candidate for a voluminous round-brush blowout. By using natural bristle round brushes, I was able to create all this movement, body and softness without needing a curling iron or flat iron.
For a little extra insurance, I popped in my Velcro rollers immediately after blow-drying and let them sit for approximately five minutes.
Ten months of grow-out. No artificial root color. No gloss. Just intentional highlighting, beautiful gray blending and a whole lot of volume.
This is why I will always prioritize technique over unnecessary maintenance.

Do you have hair envy? Because I DEFINITELY do. 😍
The volume. The movement. The shine. THE HAIR.
Kelli’s appointment consisted of:
✨ Full head highlight using Joico SilverLight Lightener
✨ Root color using Redken 10 Minute Color Gels
✨ Highlight gloss using Redken Shades EQ
✨ Layered haircut
✨ A voluminous, bouncy blowout
Now, let’s talk about this BLOWOUT.
Not a single curling iron, flat iron, or roller was used to create this look. Just my small and extra-small natural bristle round brushes, a blow dryer, and a whole lot of intentional styling.
Kelli has naturally curly hair, which is an incredible foundation for creating a voluminous blowout. Her natural texture provides body and structure, allowing me to manipulate the hair with tension, heat, and proper cooling to create that beautiful bounce and movement.
And those layers? They’re doing exactly what they’re supposed to do. Removing strategic weight, creating shape, and allowing the hair to move without sacrificing fullness.
A beautiful blowout doesn’t always require additional hot tools. Sometimes, it’s simply knowing how to work with the hair that’s already in front of you.
Dimensional brunette hair, intentional layering, and a classic round-brush blowout. Timeless.

Lived-in blonding is all about working smarter, not harder. 🤍
Creating a seamless, dimensional blonde is often much easier when a client comes in with a significant amount of new growth.
Why? Because that natural hair color is already doing half the work for me.
When there’s ample natural depth to work with, there’s often no need to introduce artificial lowlights. Instead, I can strategically place highlights while preserving the client’s natural hair color to create contrast, dimension, and a softer grow-out.
And Biz is the perfect example of this.
Her last appointment was on 12/4/2025, and she returned on 10/6/2026. That’s just over 10 MONTHS between appointments!
For this transformation, I performed a full head of highlights, a root smudge, and a haircut.
And can we appreciate that blonde for a moment? Her raw lift was absolutely incredible. So clean, so bright, and so beautiful that there was no reason to gloss her highlights.
Not every blonde needs a gloss. Not every dimensional color needs lowlights. And not every client needs to be highlighted every 8 weeks.
Sometimes, the most beautiful results come from knowing what to leave untouched.
Intentional placement. Natural dimension. Beautiful longevity.
That’s the art of lived-in color.

LIVED-IN MIDNIGHT BLUE. 🌙
Whoever decided that vivid hair colors have to be loud, bold, and attention-grabbing clearly hasn’t been introduced to the softer side of creative color.
There is a common misconception that having vivid hair automatically means sacrificing a polished, sophisticated, or professional appearance. But the reality is that vivid hair can be just as refined and understated as traditional hair colors.
It’s all about color theory, placement, saturation, and the overall ex*****on.
Professionalism isn’t determined by whether your hair is blonde, brunette, or blue. It’s reflected in how you present yourself, your abilities, and the quality of your work. While some corporate environments still maintain traditional appearance policies, creative hair color and a polished professional image are not mutually exclusive.
And that’s exactly what I love about this particular shade.
It’s creative without being excessive, unconventional without sacrificing elegance, and expressive without being overpowering.
Because vivid hair doesn’t always have to scream to make an impression. Sometimes, a whisper is far more powerful.

555 DAYS. WITHOUT A SINGLE HIGHLIGHT.
Danielle came in for her gloss + haircut appointment on 10/1/2026, and when she sat down in my chair, I was genuinely still in awe of her hair.
Why? Because the last time I highlighted her hair was 3/25/2025.
Let that sink in.
555 days.
1 year, 6 months, and 6 days.
And her hair STILL looks this beautiful.
This is exactly why I emphasize intentional highlighting, strategic placement, and working with your natural hair color rather than against it.
My goal has never been to create hair that looks beautiful for a few weeks and then requires constant maintenance. My goal is to create hair that grows out seamlessly, maintains its dimension, and continues to look beautiful long after you leave my chair.
Of course, Danielle has maintained her color with gloss appointments, but the fact remains: not one new highlight in 555 days.
Proof that thoughtful techniques, proper maintenance, and a little patience can go a very long way.
Luxury hair isn’t just about how it looks the day you leave the salon. It’s about how beautifully it wears in the months that follow.
And THAT is how you get your money’s worth.

First session, and I exceeded Megan’s expectations. 🤌🏼
One of the biggest misconceptions about creating a high-contrast, dimensional look is that you have to add lowlights. You don’t.
When a client has naturally dark hair like Megan, I would much rather use her natural depth as the lowlight. By strategically placing the highlights and leaving enough of her natural color untouched, I can create all of this contrast without unnecessarily introducing artificial pigment.
And there’s another reason I’m selective about lowlighting: today’s lowlight can become tomorrow’s obstacle.
Once artificial darker color is placed over previously lightened hair, future blonding sessions become more complicated. If I eventually need to lighten that same piece again, I’m no longer lifting through natural hair—I’m battling artificial pigment. That can affect how cleanly and how light the hair is capable of lifting.
So if Mother Nature already gave me the perfect lowlight, I’m going to use it.
More dimension doesn’t always require more color. Sometimes the best thing you can put on the hair is absolutely nothing.

Who’s hot? Definitely Amanda. 🔥
Back in July, I did a full foilayage AirTouch highlight on Amanda, along with a full-coverage root color and haircut. Because that initial appointment created all the dimension we needed, this visit was simply maintenance: a root touch-up, global gloss, and haircut.
Amanda prefers her hair dark, rich, and glossy, but still wants to see subtle dimension throughout her mid-lengths and ends. And this is exactly why dimensional brunette doesn’t have to mean light brunette.
Those softly placed highlights from July are still doing their job months later—giving the hair movement and dimension without taking away from the depth she loves.
Dark. Expensive. Dimensional. And ridiculously shiny. 🖤

✨soft bronde ✨
Bright enough to feel blonde, dimensional enough to still feel brunette.
Delicate pops of brightness, plenty of her natural depth left intact, and a soft money piece to frame her face. The kind of color that doesn’t need to scream to be noticed.
Soft. Dimensional. Expensive-looking. Exactly how I like it. And Paula too.

SWIPE THROUGH ALL THE SLIDES ➡️
Remember this transformation??
I was SO incredibly happy to see how flawlessly Rachel’s hair grew out after her first appointment with me on 6/3/2026. Minimal warmth came through, her blend stayed beautiful, and most importantly, her hair remained in impeccable condition.
Her first appointment took me 6 hours to complete.
Her second appointment? 3.5 hours.
And this is exactly why I always explain that first-time appointments can — and often do — take longer.
I can look at photos, read through your hair history and create a game plan beforehand, but sometimes once you’re actually sitting in my chair and I can see, feel and section through your hair in person, I realize there’s more going on than what could be seen through photos.
That first appointment is where I’m correcting, creating the foundation and setting your hair up for the result we want long-term.
Then, when you come back with a beautiful grow-out, healthy hair and the foundation I created still intact?
Now we’re maintaining my own work. 🙌🏼
6 hours to create it.
3.5 hours to maintain it.
Good hair takes time — but a good foundation makes every appointment after it that much easier.
