Most people assume massage therapists use their elbows because they like deep pressure.
The real reason? It helps protect our thumbs, wrists, and hands while allowing us to deliver slow, controlled, consistent pressure.
Good body mechanics help us take better care of you—and make it possible for us to keep doing what we love for years to come.
Did you know that’s why massage therapists use their elbows?
A surgeon’s aftercare philosophy can have a big impact on both your recovery and your final results.
✨It tells you how involved they’ll be after surgery. Some surgeons see you several times in the first few weeks and are easy to reach if you have concerns. Others may only schedule a couple of follow-ups and have limited availability. You want to know you’ll be supported if something unexpected happens.
✨It affects your recovery plan. Surgeons differ on recommendations for compression garments, drains, scar care, activity restrictions, massage, and when you can return to work or exercise. Knowing their protocol helps you understand what recovery will realistically look like.
✨It can affect your overall cost. Ask whether follow-up visits, treatment of complications, revision procedures, or additional supplies are included in the surgical fee or billed separately. A lower surgery price isn’t always less expensive in the long run.
✨It shows how they handle complications. No surgeon has zero complications. What’s important is how they respond if you develop a seroma, infection, delayed wound healing, or another issue. Do they see you promptly? Are they available after hours? Do they charge for complication-related visits?
✨It helps you see whether their philosophy matches your preferences. For example, some surgeons routinely recommend postoperative manual lymphatic drainage, while others don’t. Some encourage early movement, while others prefer longer periods of rest. Neither approach is automatically right or wrong, but you should feel comfortable with their reasoning.
✨It reflects their commitment to long-term outcomes. Great results aren’t just about the operation—they’re also about guiding healing over the weeks and months afterward. A surgeon who emphasizes thorough follow-up often demonstrates that they care about the entire process, not just the procedure itself.
Surgery is the easy part. PATIENCE seems to be the hardest
Sped up by 1.3 because I was taking too long to let my thoughts out 😅 I was trying so hard not to ramble and keep it as short as possible and still had to cut the video down because it was over 3 minutes long.
Things nobody tells you before a tummy tuck 👇🏾
A flat stomach can actually make loose skin on your back more noticeable. If you don’t build muscle and tone your back before and after surgery, you may love the front view but struggle with the side and back view.
Surgery changes your shape, but strength training helps complete the picture. 💪🏾✨
