I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what we’re actually here for.

I’ve never been a fan of hustle culture. Do I believe in hard work? Absolutely. I’ve worked hard my entire adult life.

But I don’t believe exhaustion should be a status symbol.

I don’t believe being constantly busy means you’re successful. And I definitely don’t believe the reward for making more money has to be finding more expensive ways to spend it.

Over the last few years, I’ve become much more interested in making my life smaller in some ways so it can feel bigger in the ways that actually matter.

I drive an old, paid-off car. Last year, we downsized into a small townhome. There are plenty of things we could afford that I simply don’t want badly enough to trade more of my time for them.

And I think that’s the part we don’t talk about enough.

Everything has a cost beyond the price tag.

The bigger payment may mean more hours worked.
The more expensive lifestyle may mean less flexibility.
The constant upgrading may mean you can never quite say, “This is enough.”

I want to work hard because I’m building things I care about, not because I’ve created a life that requires me to run at full speed forever just to keep it afloat.

I still like nice things. I still spend money on things that make me happy. This isn’t about deprivation.

It’s about being intentional about what is actually worth trading my time for.

Because at this point in my life, time feels a whole lot more valuable than stuff.

And I’d rather have enough…with room to breathe.

We don’t just want to put products on your shelves and wish you luck.

There’s something I think about sometimes as a business owner.

When I see someone absolutely raving about a product, company, or service, I can't help but wonder...

Do they really love it? Or are they being paid to love it?

To be clear, I don't think there's anything wrong with paid partnerships. Creating content takes time, talent, and effort, and creators deserve to be compensated for that work.

What matters to me is transparency.

Outside of the content we create with our incredible brand ambassador, Ariel (who was a genuine customer long before we ever worked together), we don't pay people to tell you they love Scrub Me Good.

Sometimes we send products for people to try. Sometimes people choose to share them. Sometimes they don't. That's okay.

The reviews that mean the most to me are the ones we never asked for.
The messages that show up out of nowhere.
The customers who reorder.
The retailers who come back.
The people who tell their friends because something genuinely worked for them.

The same goes for awards. Some are independently judged and truly earned. Others involve entry fees, advertising packages, or paid publicity. I think it's okay to ask questions and understand what you're looking at.

At the end of the day...

You can pay for attention.
You can pay for beautiful content.
You can pay for exposure.

But you can't manufacture genuine trust.

And that's the only kind of business I want to build.
