Some appointments are about so much more than just changing someone's hair color. This was definitely one of them!

This sweet client came in ready to say goodbye to her at-home vivid color adventures and return to a softer, more natural, lived-in blonde.

Her hair had quite the history! Previous red and jade vivid colors had left behind stubborn pink and green pigments, along with some uneven layers, choppy face-framing pieces, and bangs from an at-home haircut.

Our goal? Restore a beautiful, dimensional, natural-looking blonde while keeping the health and integrity of her hair our top priority.

And with color correction, patience is everything!

Here's what went into this 6-hour transformation:

Step 1 | Gentle Color Removal: We started with a professional color remover to help lift out the leftover artificial pigments without immediately jumping into lightener.

Step 2 | Targeted Color Correction: Some of those pink and green tones were a little more stubborn! We carefully applied lightener only where needed to address the remaining unwanted color.

Step 3 | Customized Highlights + Lowlights: Once we had a more workable canvas, we created a dimensional blend of highlights and lowlights to bring her closer to her natural, lived-in blonde inspiration.

Step 4 | Complementary Bonding Treatment: Because beautiful hair should also be healthy hair! We incorporated a bonding treatment to support her hair through the correction process.

Step 5 | Corrective Haircut: We finished by evening out her existing layers, softening the choppy face-framing pieces, and transforming her bangs into curtain bangs for a more blended, intentional shape.

WHY DID THIS TAKE 6 HOURS?

Color correction isn't a one-size-fits-all service.

Previously colored hair can react differently from section to section, especially when vivid pigments are involved. Every step requires patience, careful monitoring, and adjustments based on how the hair responds.

My priority will always be protecting the integrity of the hair rather than rushing to reach a desired result. And honestly? Those six hours flew by!

We spent the appointment laughing, chatting, sharing stories, and getting to know one another. She was genuinely such a joy to have in my chair.

Seeing her smile when she finally saw her transformation made every minute worth it. 🥹🤍

🤍 A LITTLE REINTRODUCTION… AND A NEW CHAPTER!

For those who have known me for years, you probably know me as Hair by Gina.O. For those who are newer here, hi! I'm Gina, the woman behind Eleváre by Gina.O!

With all the changes happening in my business and so many wonderful new clients this year, I thought it was time to share a little more about myself and how I ended up here.

Because, believe it or not, becoming a hairstylist was never part of my original plan!

I spent years working in corporate leadership, eventually reaching a VP position. I'd built a successful career, but I reached a point where I started questioning what success really meant to me.

I was tired of the constant demands, unrealistic expectations, endless meetings, and measuring everything by numbers.

More than anything, I missed the creative side of myself that I'd put away years ago.

I used to love drawing, painting, writing, and creating. But between raising a family, working, and building a career, those passions slowly took a back seat.

I wanted to reconnect with that part of myself.

I also wanted to build a business where people mattered just as much as the bottom line. One rooted in integrity, kindness, genuine relationships, and doing the right thing even when nobody's watching.

So, I took a chance on a completely different career.

And what a journey it's been!

I've discovered a genuine love for the creativity, the learning, the transformations, and especially the people.

I love that I get to know my clients beyond the surface. I get to hear about their families, their celebrations, their challenges, and their lives.

Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we have meaningful conversations, and sometimes someone just needs a little quiet time and a chance to feel taken care of.

All of that matters to me.

Outside the salon, I'm a wife, mom, proud homebody, and lifelong learner. My faith and family are incredibly important to me, and I'm constantly working on growing into a better version of myself.

I love quiet evenings, candles, music, books, and a good podcast. I'm an introvert at heart, a bit of a perfectionist, and usually researching or learning something new.

And yes, I also love a good reality TV drama - as long as I'm not personally involved! 😂

As Hair by Gina.O evolves into Eleváre, my goal is to continue building a business that reflects those same values.

A place where you feel heard, cared for, never rushed, and genuinely valued.

Where beauty isn't about changing who you are, but helping you feel confident in your authentic self.

Sometimes a fresh start is exactly what your hair needs! For this transformation, we said goodbye to several inches of length and uneven, wispy ends, creating a fuller, more polished shape.

We also refreshed her color with a beautiful, custom auburn shade, adding richness, warmth, and dimension for a gorgeous overall transformation.

Now, let's talk about lighting! Have you ever noticed how your hair color looks completely different inside versus standing in front of a window?

That's because lighting has a HUGE impact on how we see color, especially reds and blondes!

💡 Indoor lighting: Depending on the bulbs, colors may appear deeper, softer, warmer, or more muted.

☀️ Natural window light: Often reveals more dimension and reflective tones. Reds and coppers may appear brighter and more vibrant, while blondes can show more of their golden, creamy, or cool undertones.

Neither is necessarily the "true" color - they're simply different ways light interacts with your hair.

That's why I love photographing my work in different lighting. It gives you a better idea of how your custom color can look in everyday life.

Sometimes the goal is just more balanced. 🤎

For this visit, we toned down some of the warmth, softened the brighter pieces, and brought everything together into a richer, more seamless brunette.

The result is still dimensional, just a little deeper, shinier, and easier on the eyes than where we started.

From dark + grown out to softer, brighter, and easier to maintain

Her goal was to go lighter, blend the gray, and create a color that would let her go longer between appointments.

She came in with overgrown roots, noticeable gray, and older darker/red color through the ends. Most of her gray was concentrated around the front hairline, with two beautiful natural gray streaks in the front that she wanted to keep and enhance.

So instead of covering everything up, we worked with it.

Starting point: overgrown roots, gray at the hairline, and darker/red color lingering through the bottom.

Session 1: focused on breaking up the old color and starting the lightening process.

Session 2: added more brightness and softness throughout.

Session 3: really started the gray blending process and brought everything together for a softer, lower-maintenance result.

The goal wasn’t harsh coverage - it was a softer, more natural grow-out that complements her gray instead of fighting against it.

Gray blending is a journey, and this is a beautiful example of trusting the process.

SAME HAIR. SAME COLOR. DIFFERENT LIGHTING.

One of the biggest things I like to educate my clients on is how much lighting affects the way hair color appears.

These are two real custom color services I’ve done - one custom red and one custom blonde. In each collage, you’re seeing the same head of hair, same appointment, same color, just photographed in different lighting.

💡Indoor lighting: can make hair appear warmer, richer, deeper, or softer depending on the bulbs and surrounding tones.

🌞Natural window light: often shows more of the true dimension in the hair and can make tones appear brighter, cooler, warmer, or more reflective.

This is true for all colors but especially noticeable with reds, coppers, and blondes.

Reds can shift from auburn to copper to rich brown-red depending on the lighting.

Blondes can look creamy, beige, golden, neutral, or brighter depending on where you’re standing.

So if you’ve ever thought, “Why does my hair look different in every picture?”
The answer is usually lighting - not that your color changed.

This is also why inspiration photos can sometimes be misleading. Two photos may look like completely different colors, when really it’s just a difference in lighting, camera settings, and environment.

Beautiful custom color isn’t about looking good in just one kind of light - it’s about creating a color that looks intentional, dimensional, and beautiful in all kinds of lighting.

What started as a space focused primarily on hair has slowly grown into something more - a place for personalized hair, beauty, education and services designed to help you feel polished, confident and still completely like yourself.

The name Eleváre comes from the idea of elevating - refining, enhancing and lifting something higher without changing what makes it uniquely yours.

That felt like the perfect reflection of where this brand is going.

Hair will always be at the heart of what I do, but Eleváre gives me room to grow into more:

Her goal was to brighten things up while making the gray around her front hairline and crown feel less noticeable as it grows in.

So instead of trying to change everything in one appointment, we’ve been building the look gradually.

Starting point: deeper overall rich color with more contrast against the gray.

Session one: we introduced brightness and began softening the gray around the areas where she notices it most.

Session two: we added even more lightness and continued blending through the front and crown for a softer, more seamless grow-out.

The goal isn’t to completely cover the gray - it’s to make it work with the color instead of fighting against it.

Still a work in progress, but I love seeing how much softer everything looks already.
