The EU named 28 possible hormone disruptors in cosmetics. Kojic acid and salicylic acid are on the list. All 28 are in the slides.
Some are now banned. Most are capped at a set percentage. Labels rarely print percentages, so the name is your flag.
None of the 28 appear in any Indiefog formula. Our lavender products name it on the label, and almost every product is available essential oil-free.

Perimenopause is showing up on your skin, and for many of us it lands on top of everything else we already carry.
Same cleanser. Same moisturizer. Then one week your face is red and stinging, and nobody can tell you why.
Here is what may be happening underneath. Mast cells carry estrogen receptors. In early perimenopause, progesterone often drops first while estrogen swings high and low, and progesterone is one of the things that helps keep mast cells calm. As estrogen declines over time, the skin barrier thins and lets more through.
If you also live with MCAS or an autoimmune condition, your cup started fuller. Perimenopause adds a layer, and small daily things are suddenly enough to tip it.
Lightening any layer gives your skin more room. That is why we formulate by subtraction. Every ingredient left out on purpose is one less thing your skin has to respond to.
Your genes set the size of the cup. Your life decides how full it gets.
Our founder Kikki is joining the panel at the Peri Party on October 11 to talk about exactly this. Details at the link in bio.

What your skin wants after 40.
As estrogen falls, skin holds less water and makes less of its own lipids. The routine that worked at 30 can start to sting. The shift is toward giving back what's missing and going gentler on everything strong.
A few of the ways we do that, shown in the slides. Gentle Balm cleanses without stripping skin's own oils. Balance Serum pairs 2.5% niacinamide with snow mushroom, which holds water at the surface much like hyaluronic acid. And Cacao Renewal Polish smooths with finely milled rice, with no acids.
Every formula is made by subtraction, so your skin has less to react to.
If you live with MCAS or reactive skin, patch test anything new, one product at a time.
Save this for your next shelf reset.

Thank you, , for the Bloom & Breathe Gala.
It was an evening made for women living with endometriosis and chronic illness. Many of you know what it takes some days just to get dressed and out the door. You came anyway, and the whole room felt it.
Thank you for having me on stage. To everyone who listened, and to everyone who found our table afterward to share a piece of your story, thank you. We heard you. A room where no one has to explain themselves is rare, and we were grateful to be in it.
To the organizers and volunteers who held every detail together, and to the fellow makers and practitioners who shared the space with us, thank you for a beautiful night.
If we met you at the gala and want to read the full ingredient lists at home, everything is on https://zurl.co/lIpgP. Take your time. We'll be here.
Full transparency: I made a typo.
Every Indiefog product is made by hand, in small batches, by me. That includes the labels. And this week, one of them got away from me.
The label on the Cloud Cleansing Powder reads l ukewarm water. It should read lukewarm.
You read every ingredient before you buy. I love that about you. It's the whole reason the full list goes on every jar, typos and all.
Please embrace our small business. 🫶
Thank you for reading closely. You keep me honest.

Formaldehyde rarely appears on a label by name. It hides inside a few preservatives that slowly release it.
Read for DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, quaternium-15, bronopol and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate.
We preserve with sodium benzoate and gluconolactone, or dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol. Neither pair releases formaldehyde.

You read the full ingredient list before you buy. Some of what can end up in a product still won't appear there.
1,4-dioxane is one example. It's a trace byproduct that can form when an ingredient is reacted with ethylene oxide, a step called ethoxylation. Because it's a byproduct, it never gets its own line.
The EPA classifies it as likely carcinogenic to humans. New York's limit for household cleansing and personal care products has been 1 ppm since December 31, 2023. The FDA has not set a federal limit for cosmetics.
What you can read for is the step it comes from. Names with "-eth," "PEG," "polysorbate," or "-oxynol" went through it.
Our Hydrate Shampoo Bar washes with sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, and caprylyl/capryl glucoside. Each is made with no ethylene oxide step. Swipe to the last slide and read the full list for yourself. Lavender and geranium give it a soft scent, with no synthetic fragrance.
Formulated for reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin. We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before first use.

Some nights, one step is all you have.
The long routine is lovely in theory. On most evenings you want your face clean, your makeup off, and your skin comfortable, in one go.
The Gentle Balm does all of it. A golden balm of Nilotica shea, kokum, jojoba, and calendula melts makeup and sunscreen as you massage, eye makeup included. It rinses or wipes away and leaves skin soft and conditioned, so there is no second cleanse and no separate moisturizer that night.
Left out on purpose: synthetic fragrance, essential oils, and ethoxylated emulsifiers. Its preservative system passed independent challenge testing.
How to use it: warm a small scoop between dry fingertips, massage into a dry face, then rinse or wipe away with a warm cloth.
Unscented. Contains calendula and East African Nilotica shea.
Made for dry and sensitive skin, including skin navigating MCAS.
Not sure where to start? The Discovery Sample Pack lets you try the routine in travel size first. If your skin does react, tell us within 30 days what you used and what happened, and choose a refund or a swap.
