This is literally how my week went. Owning a makeup business might seem fun on the outside, but there is so much stress and non-said stuff that we don’t talk about.
The late payments, the cancellations, the pressure to be present on social media, but also have a life and be a good wife and mom, it all adds up and sometimes even makes us not want to talk to anyone for weeks!
Building a dream business is hard, but it also is very rewarding! I’m truly blessed to have the best supportive family and the best clients. I wouldn’t be here without you.
Save this to remind yourself that you are closer to your dreams than you think!
I asked God for patience, and He sent me these two lol
But I wouldn’t have it any other way! They keep it fun on the day to day and they definitely keep me on my toes ❤️
Sanat’s favorite thing to do is to turn Darshini into a mini version of him lol Happy Father’s Day my love! My life would be so boring without you two.
Don’t come for me and my REAL TECHNIQUES brushes lol
I’ve been taking art classes since I was 4 years old. Brushes are like my second fingers, so whenever I find a brush that DOES THE JOB, I stick to them. And believe I’ve tried many brands, but these are the ones that work for my technique.
Natural Makeup artistry is a skill that involves technique, correct use of products and knowing how to use tools, aka brushes, to make the makeup seamless on the skin.
As for pricing, brides are not only paying for hair and makeup on their wedding day, they are paying for the multiple emails and calls back and forth, their online consultation, our art and our time.
Each person is entitled to charge what they want, and if your clients value your work and customer service, why not?!
Anyway, if you want to see more tips and techniques for natural makeup follow Betsabé Apte | Indian Bridal Artist and save this for the next time someone criticizes your technique, your tools or your worth! You do you my friend! ♥️
If your makeup never looks as natural as you want it to, it might not be your makeup… it might be your brushes.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned as a natural makeup artist is that the brush you choose changes how a product looks on the skin.
These are the 4 brush shapes I reach for over and over again because they help me create soft, natural-looking makeup without adding more product.
✨ Flat brushes for eyeliner and brows
✨ White goat hair fluffy brushes for soft, blended eyeshadow
✨ Cat paw brushes for precise concealer placement
✨ Small fluffy brushes for blush, contour, and highlight
You don’t need a huge brush collection.
You just need to understand what each brush is designed to do.
Save this for the next time you’re shopping for brushes, and follow for more natural makeup tips, techniques, and the thought process behind every look I create.
Not worried because I got paid anyway…
Last minute cancellations are not fun unless you have a contract in place.
If it’s bridal, there is a 25% non-refundable retainer and if it is event makeup, I charge a 50% non-refundable retainer.
Personally, I only keep the retainers if there is a cancellation, but there are artists who also ask for the due payment. To each their own, right? As long as there is a contract, so make sure to read all the small letters when you get yours.
Do you have a contract in place? Do you keep a percentage or charge it all? Let me know in the comments 🤔

The secret to long-lasting bridal makeup isn’t more makeup. It’s making the right decisions before the makeup even goes on. ✨
One of the biggest concerns I hear from brides is wanting makeup that lasts all day without feeling heavy or looking overdone.
Especially during Indian weddings, where you’re getting ready early, taking hundreds of photos, celebrating through multiple events, and sometimes changing looks throughout the day.
Long-lasting makeup starts with healthy skin, thoughtful product choices, custom color matching, strategic layering, and knowing exactly where makeup is needed—and where it isn’t.
The goal is always the same: fresh skin, beautiful photos, comfortable wear, and makeup that still looks like you at the end of the night.
