This piece was created through hours of conversation and intentional drafting to honor my client’s connection to Nüshu, the ancient secret women’s script of Hunan, once used to hold grief, prayer, and things too sacred to speak aloud.

She selected characters from a poem that resonated most deeply with her, and together we composed them to radiate across the body. The direction of every mark was carefully considered to both honor the script and complement her frame. We paired the piece with abstracted orchids and balanced asymmetrical ink gestures.

Grateful for the trust involved in creating something this personal. 🫶🏽
