Today marks two milestones worth celebrating together.

It’s Earth Day - a moment to pause and appreciate the planet that gives us everything. And it’s also Conscia’s 5th birthday (!!), a milestone that only feels right to mark on a day like this.

Five years ago, we started with a simple belief: that beautiful hair and a beautiful planet shouldn’t be at odds. That the ingredients we put on our hair matter — for us, and for the world around us.

Since then, we’ve had the privilege of being part of your routine. Of watching you choose products that are as good for the earth as they are for your strands. Of building something that means a little more than just a bottle on a shelf.

This anniversary, we’re reflecting on what “conscious” really means to us:

Tomorrow is the Spring Equinox - also known as the astrological (or energetic) new year. Coming out of the dark. The moment when light and dark are in perfect balance.

It feels like there have been a lot of “fresh start” moments already this year. First, of course, was January 1st. The start of the Gregorian calendar. But something about that being in the dead of winter has never hit for me. I like to think of it more as - just Capricorn season. Like it’s a very Capricorn time. It’s cold, harsh (lol, love you my Capricorns but you know it’s true). A perfect time to get down to business - clear out what we don’t need and assess what we want to take with us forward. A nice cleanse. Ready to build.

Then it seemed like, at least on social media, we were all very in on the Lunar (Chinese) New Year this year. Everybody and their mom was talking about the Year of the Horse. And I’m here for it! I think we were all very ready to exit the Year of the Snake. Because last year really did feel like a snake. Have never lived through a snakier year. It really brought out the underbelly of everything in a way that only snake energy can do. While I do think it was necessary, it was incredibly painful. And agonizingly still. It felt impossible to move through anything. Which I think is why we all really clung to the incoming Horse energy. Like, let’s move! Let’s get out of this mess.

Then, only 3 days later, there was a major astrological moment. I’m going to geek out for a second - please bear with me. Neptune (the planet of fantasy, illusion, dreams) made an exact conjunction (came together) with Saturn (the planet of reality, structure, rules) at 0 degrees Aries (the first degree of the Zodiac.) Like the point of universal conception. This happens roughly once every 9,000 years. It’s considered a moment of paradigm shift. I like to think about that conjunction as a dance - a mutual exchange of energies. Neptune revealing the delusions of our current reality, taking the wool off of our eyes. And Saturn bringing structure and ex*****on to our wildest ideas. Bringing our dreams into reality.

Introducing: Conscia x The Waight. We’re excited to release a limited edition ceramic dish in collaboration with Seattle artist Courtney Hunter of The Waight.

We met Courtney at a Seattle market and immediately fell in love with her ceramics. The subtle matte glazes, the understated elegance - it felt perfectly aligned with Conscia’s philosophy. We asked her to create a dish for our shampoo and conditioner stoned and, after months of refinement, here it is!

Courtney is a former fashion designer turned ceramic artist. After years of working in the NYC fashion scene, she came to clay as a creative outlet and eventually pursued it full-time, bringing her design sensibility into every piece. Her process combines hand-building and wheel-throwing with a strong focus on form, creating objects that are not only utilitarian but also highlight the beauty of the handmade process. Her intention is to create pieces that add understated beauty to the home while bringing appreciation and calm to the routine of everyday life.
