It’s been 301 days since I last posted on Instagram. Brain fog, writer’s block..a COVID slump? With the ever changing and saturated social media experience, comes a pressure to contribute unique and fresh ideas.
43 weeks of scrolling and swiping, my iPhone storage filling up with photos of my work. Photos of my beautiful clients, the people underneath the hair, who make my job worthwhile. These snapshots in time capture hours of work. Deep conversations and lighted hearted laughter. Sweat, bleach, back pain, and color stains. The payoff finale of a happy client.
It took a 10 month social media hiatus for me to realize that it doesn’t matter what I post online..my greatest contribution to the human experience is my time, with my clients.

It’s still 80 degrees here in Sonoma County, but that hasn’t stopped me from ordering pumpkin spice lattes, wearing flannel, and favoring dark nail polish.

One of my favorite transitions of fall is the change in the air, especially when it comes to my client’s hair! This client went from sunny blonde to a smoked brunette.

How hot is too hot for curling and flat ironing hair? 🌡⠀⠀

The answer varies based on hair condition and texture. But across the board...never set an iron above 400 degrees! 🥵⠀⠀

If you can cook a chicken at that temp, than it’s probably too hot! 😅🐓 ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Anything above 400 and you are risking serious heat damage....dryness, split ends, and hair color fadage. 😱⠀⠀
⠀⠀
If your hair is fine, dry, fragile, or damaged set the temperature between 290 and 320. ⠀⠀
Thick or course hair can fluctuate higher, 325-375. ⠀⠀
Use your discretion ladies, and always use a heat protectant. 😉⠀⠀
