Muscle in midlife isn’t about getting smaller it’s about staying powerful.

After 40, we begin losing muscle faster, which can affect metabolism, insulin sensitivity, bone strength, balance, and independence.

Building muscle now means:

✨ Better blood-sugar control
✨ A stronger metabolism
✨ More stable joints and bones
✨ Greater energy and confidence
✨ More freedom as you age

Muscle is not just aesthetic. Muscle is longevity.

Your goal shouldn’t be to weigh less. It should be to build a body strong enough to carry you through the next 40 years.

Getting healthy is rarely one dramatic decision.

It is the glass of water you drink.
The protein you add to breakfast.
The walk you take even when you do not feel like it.
The earlier bedtime.
The strength training.
The appointment you finally make.

None of these things feel life-changing in the moment.

But repeated over time, they become your health.

You do not need to overhaul your entire life overnight.
You need small choices you can keep making.

Consistency will always beat intensity

If you are neurodivergent and have low ferritin, this is what I check.

Because low ferritin is not just an “iron number.”

It can affect fatigue, focus, brain fog, mood, restless legs, hair shedding, exercise tolerance, and that deep depleted feeling that coffee does not fix.

So I want to know:

Are your periods heavy?

Are you getting enough iron in your diet?

Are you absorbing it?

Do you have gut symptoms?

Are you taking acid blockers?

Do you have inflammation?

Are B12, folate, vitamin D, and thyroid also part of the picture?

Because in neurodivergent women, low ferritin can make an already overloaded brain feel even harder to manage.

At Lesh Lifestyle, we do not look at labs in isolation.

We connect the dots between your brain, body, hormones, gut, nutrition, and symptoms.

Comment FERRITIN if you want more information on how we look at this.

If you have anxiety, I don’t just ask what you’re worried about.

I ask what your nervous system may be missing.

Three supplements I often think about for anxiety support:

1. Magnesium glycinate
For the wired, tense, can’t-relax nervous system.

2. Omega-3s
For brain, mood, inflammation, and nervous system support.

3. B vitamins
Especially when anxiety comes with fatigue, brain fog, low mood, poor diet, gut issues, or feeling depleted.

Supplements are not the whole plan.

But they can be part of a physician-led brain health strategy when we are looking at the whole picture.

Anxiety is not always just “in your head.”

Your brain and body both deserve support.

If you are struggling with these things, Exomind may be worth a conversation.

Brain fog.
Poor focus.
Low mood.
Feeling anxious for no clear reason.
Trouble shutting your brain off.
Feeling emotionally reactive.
Not sleeping well.
Feeling like you are functioning, but not actually okay.

These are not random little problems.

They are brain health signals.

And your brain is not separate from the rest of your health.

At Lesh Lifestyle, we look at the whole picture — sleep, stress, hormones, inflammation, metabolic health, nutrients, trauma history, medications, and brain function.

For the right patient, Exomind may be part of a physician-led brain health plan to support mood, focus, emotional regulation, and cognitive wellness.

You do not have to wait until you are falling apart to support your brain.

Are hormones right for you 08/26/2026

What if the answer isn't simply “yes” or “no” when it comes to hormone therapy?

I had such a great conversation with Dr. Mirela Cernaianu about this recently.

We talked about why hormone therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and why what works for your friend, sister, or someone you follow online may not be the right fit for you.

Your symptoms, your body, your lifestyle, your stress and sleep, your sensitivities, and your goals all matter.

And sometimes the first appointment shouldn't end with a prescription. Sometimes it should begin with a conversation.

You may need to try an approach, see how your body responds, and adjust along the way. That's not failure. That's personalized care.

We also talked about the additional considerations for neurodivergent women and why finding a provider who actually listens and understands those differences matters.

Some health topics deserve more than a 60-second reel.

That is why I write on Substack.

Social media is where we start the conversation.

Substack is where we actually go deeper.

The things women keep being rushed through in appointments…

The “normal labs” that do not explain how they feel…

The ADHD, hormones, nervous system, perimenopause, metabolism, weight, relationships, and brain-body conversations that are all connected but rarely explained together…

That is what I am writing about.

Because you do not need another vague wellness tip.

You need real explanations.

You need someone to connect the dots.

You need the longer conversation.

If you want deep dives, research breakdowns, and real talk about women’s health, neurodivergence, hormones, and the nervous system — come join me on Substack.

Link in bio.

And send this to someone who is tired of leaving appointments without answers.

If you suffer from depression, I want these 5 things checked.

And no, this is not me saying depression is “just” a lab problem.

Depression is real.

But as an integrative medicine doctor, I also want to know what may be contributing.

1. Thyroid
2. Ferritin and iron
3. B12 and vitamin D
4. Hormones
5. Blood sugar and inflammation

Because mood does not live in a vacuum.

Your brain is connected to your sleep, hormones, nutrients, metabolism, inflammation, stress load, trauma history, and nervous system.

At Lesh Lifestyle, we look at the whole picture.

And for the right patient, Exomind may be part of a physician-led brain health plan to support mood, focus, emotional regulation, and cognitive wellness.

Depression is not a character flaw.

Your brain and body deserve support.

Is Low Ferritin Sabotaging Your Dopamine 08/24/2026

Your hemoglobin can be “normal” and you can still have low iron stores.

This is something I think more women in midlife need to know.

I’m seeing more women—especially neurodivergent women—coming in exhausted, struggling with focus, motivation, sensory overwhelm, or simply feeling like their brain isn't working the way it used to.

And sometimes they've been told, “Your labs are normal.”

One of the things I look at is ferritin, not just hemoglobin.

Hemoglobin and ferritin tell us different things, and low iron stores can matter even before someone develops anemia.

I wrote about why I pay attention to ferritin, what can cause it to run low, and the connection between iron and dopamine:

Is Low Ferritin Sabotaging Your Dopamine?

Have you ever been told your iron was “normal” when you were still feeling exhausted or not quite like yourself?

If you have brain fog, do these five things before you blame yourself.

Because brain fog is not a personality flaw.

It can be connected to sleep, blood sugar, thyroid, ferritin, B12, vitamin D, hormones, inflammation, stress, medications, burnout, and nervous system overload.

Start here:

1. Check your sleep.
2. Eat protein early.
3. Look at your labs.
4. Support your nervous system.
5. Stop treating brain fog like laziness.

Your brain is not separate from your health.

At Lesh Lifestyle, we look at the whole picture — brain, body, hormones, labs, sleep, stress, lifestyle, and brain health.

For the right patient, Exomind may be part of a physician-led brain health plan to support mood, focus, emotional regulation, and cognitive wellness.

Because sometimes your brain does not need more shame.

It needs support.

Comment FOG for more information about Exomind and our brain health options.

Send this to someone who needs to hear this: your brain fog is not laziness. Your brain may need support.
