This one is so much more than just a hair transformation for me. 🥹❤️

It’s honestly a full circle moment in my career.

After 19 years as a cosmetologist, I’ve had so many experiences, opportunities, and accomplishments that I’m incredibly proud of. But I’ve always had that little part of me that wanted to build something of my very own.

And now here I am, getting to share my very FIRST client wearing my own hair extension line, Haven Extensions!🥰

But what makes this transformation even more special is that it brings me right back to why I wanted to become a cosmetologist in the first place.

To help women feel beautiful and confident in themselves.

I’ve always believed our hair holds so much of our confidence. And sometimes, having hair that makes us feel like ourselves again can mean more than people realize.

For this transformation, we started by really talking about what she wanted and, just as importantly, what she didn’t want.

We chose three different colors of Haven Extensions hair to create the dimension she was looking for, then corrected her natural color to bring everything together.

From there, we installed 112 grams of 22-inch K-Tips, using a combination of full and half bonds to customize the installation to her hair.

Every part of this transformation was about creating something that felt like HER.

And when she told me she finally felt like herself again with this hair… 🥹❤️

THAT RIGHT THERE.

That is why I do what I do.

Knowing I was able to give someone that boost of confidence back, while also watching another dream of my own come to life, makes my heart absolutely explode with happiness.

I’ve accomplished a lot throughout my career, but moments like this remind me that there’s still so much more to come. And I couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter!

A little fall hair change! 🍂

She was ready for something different but didn’t want to go too dark, lose all her blonde, or end up with one solid color.

So we did a heavy lowlight foil with a copper tone that would blend with her natural color but still give her that little pop of copper she wanted!

We left plenty of her blonde throughout to keep some brightness and dimension without making her feel washed out.

I love how this turned out! 😍 Sometimes you don’t need a huge change to make your hair feel completely different! ❤️

Why did I create Haven Extensions?

Honestly, it came from frustration.

I was tired of giving clients these huge quotes just for the hair and then not feeling like the quality of that hair justified what they were paying.

I was tired of hair that shed. Hair that seemed to shrink over time. Ends that became thin. Wefts and K-Tips that didn’t have the grams or density I wanted. And professional hair that sometimes needed to be replaced around the 6-month mark.

At one point, I started feeling like some of the professional hair I was purchasing wasn’t performing much differently or sometimes even as well as less expensive hair I had worked with.

And I kept thinking: there has to be a better middle ground.

I absolutely believe hair extensions are a luxury. But I don’t believe they should be a luxury that’s completely out of reach for the average woman.

Because for me, extensions aren’t just about having long hair.

Sometimes they’re about giving someone back the fullness they’ve lost. Filling in thin areas. Finally having the length their natural hair just won’t grow past. Adding density where they need it. Or even adding beautiful pops of dimension without having to lighten their natural hair.

Hair can be such a huge part of how we feel about ourselves, and I wanted more women to be able to experience what extensions can do for their confidence.

So when I started building Haven Extensions, I knew exactly what I was looking for:

My goal is for my clients to be able to get 10–12 months from their reusable extension hair with proper home care and maintenance, rather than feeling like they’re starting over and buying new hair every few months.

That’s why Haven Extensions exists.

Not because the world needed another extension brand but because my clients needed an option I felt better about putting my name behind.

When you’re working through layers of previous black + red box color, getting to the end goal isn’t always a one-appointment journey and that’s okay.

That wet-hair photo is such a good example of why color history matters. As we lifted through those previous layers of artificial pigment, you can see the different levels of warmth that were exposed throughout her hair.

And this is your reminder: if you’re starting dark and your end goal is blonde, there may be a caramel stage in between.

Especially when we’re working through years of dark artificial color, going blonde safely is a process. Warmth is exposed as the hair lifts, and sometimes the healthiest choice is to embrace that caramel/bronde stage for a while instead of pushing the hair farther in one appointment.

Instead of pushing her hair farther than I was comfortable with today, we worked with what her hair gave us, created a rich brunette base, and added the chunkier dimensional highlights she loves.

Is this her final goal? Nope.

Is it a beautiful, healthy step toward it? Absolutely.

Corrective color isn’t about getting there as fast as possible. It’s about knowing when to keep going, when to stop, and how to create something beautiful during every stage of the process.

Healthy blonde is always the goal not the fastest blonde.

Having a hairstylist as a mom has its perks… but it also means you’ll probably only get your hair done once a year. 😬

So when you only get to color your hair once a year, the grow-out has to be GOOD.

This was only the second time I’ve ever colored my oldest daughter’s hair, and since we’ve decided this is basically an annual thing, soft + lived-in is always the goal.

We added dimension and brightness while keeping everything blended enough that she can grow it out for the next year without a harsh line or feeling like she constantly needs to maintain it.

Pretty. Dimensional. Low maintenance. And still completely her.

This kind of color will forever be one of my favorites to create.

I’ve spent 17+ years wearing other people’s extension brands.

I think it’s time I build my own.🎉

For the last 17+ years, I’ve worn and professionally applied so many different types of extensions! Different methods, different brands, and everything from inexpensive hair to some of the most expensive hair on the market.

All of that experience has taught me A LOT about what I want from extension hair.

How it should feel.
How it should blend.
How it should wear.
How it should hold up.
And what I actually feel comfortable asking my clients to invest in.

Because one thing I’ve learned over the years?

A bigger price tag doesn’t automatically mean better hair.

I want beautiful, professional-quality extension hair that I’m genuinely proud to put my name behind, while still keeping the investment realistic for the women sitting in my chair.

So quietly, behind the scenes, I’ve been working on something of my own.

Before I ever would officially put my name behind anything, I’m doing what I’ve always done: putting it to the test.

I’m currently wearing it myself, peep the blonde in my hair! Washing it. Styling it. Putting it through real, everyday life to see how it performs over time. And honestly it’s out performing anything I’ve ever used or worn before!!🤯

Honestly, if my name is going on it, I want to KNOW it.

Getting to hold my own Haven Extensions color collection in my hands today made my inner child scream in excitement!! Because my entire life this is all I’ve ever wanted, to help women feel their most confident! 🥹

When your clients become like family and you have way too much fun at their appointments… sometimes you forget to take the pictures.

This time, we didn’t! 🙌🏻

This rich, dimensional red deserved its moment. We refreshed her color, brought back that beautiful brightness and shine, her old highlights from last year give us that gorgeous dimension through the ends.

One of my favorite parts of doing hair for so many years is realizing that somewhere along the way, clients turn into friends and appointments start feeling a whole lot more like catching up with family.

And apparently every once in a while, I even remember to document the hair.

Extensions are one of my favorite things to do! With each stand I’m able to completely change your hair and boost your confidence! I also want to state that the best extension method is not always what’s popular or you see the most of, it is the one that makes sense for the person sitting in my chair.

This client had previously worn weft extensions, but wanted something different this time more mobility and a different distribution of the added weight throughout her fine hair.

So for her, we chose K-tips.

But even then, I didn’t use the exact same K-tip throughout her entire head.

In the back, where she has more natural density, I used fuller K-tip bonds. As I moved toward the finer areas around the front, I customized and cut the bonds into micro K-tips so the size of the extension better matched the amount of natural hair supporting it.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve chosen to become educated and certified in multiple extension methods. Plus will always continue to further my education and certifications!

I don’t want to know how to do just one method and make every client fit into it. I want to be able to look at your density, hair type, lifestyle, goals and previous extension experience and decide what actually makes sense for your hair.

Sometimes that’s K-tips. Sometimes it’s wefts, I-tips or nano beads. And sometimes the best answer is a hybrid install using more than one method in different areas of the same head.

With finer hair especially, placement and weight distribution matter. The goal isn’t simply to add as much hair as possible, it’s to create the length and fullness you want while being thoughtful about the natural hair supporting it.

And a little bonus with this transformation: we were able to give her some of the lighter dimension she’d been wanting without coloring her natural hair. The extensions themselves became her highlights.

I’m incredibly appreciative that she trusted me with this transformation, especially when making a big change in both her hair and her extension method.

Extensions aren’t one-size-fits-all. Your install shouldn’t be either.
