Merry Christmas with my 4 kiddos, add-on 2 gf's, and my 2 granddoggos. I have loved being their Mom from day 1 and will always thrive with that. They are all my heart, my joy, and the best version of myself.

This sign has been installed on Highway 101 near the accident site that severely injured my son Avery and sadly took the life of his best friend Buzzy. They were ejected out the back window 30 yards down a ravine upon impact. Avery sustained multiple injuries. The first 72 hours in ICU were the most terrifying hours of my life. I was right by his side, I didn't sleep, I'm not sure I even blinked. Avery is a miracle kid and continues to thrive and has a growth mindset a year later after the accident. His best friend died under his arms after he army crawled through blackberry bushes 10 yards to get to Buzzy. No child should have to see or experience that.

The driver who caused this accident is serving a 13 year sentence for vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. His negligence took the life of a sweet 15 yro kid and imprinted memories of trauma in waves for multiple families.

There's more to this story, as some of you may know. There was another surviving child who barely made it. He is the son of the driver. His father was supposed to keep our boys safe, but he was in a rush and had an altered judgment. This was 9:30 in the morning. This man changed the lives of so many people, including his own family.

Please drive safe, sober, and slow down.

This photo memory from one year ago to this day. I put this self care package together for a bereaved mother who is a regular patient of mine. One year ago, she sent me an email late in the evening pleading for me to fit her in as soon as possible, and what I read next crushed me. Her missing daughter was identified by the coroner and had lost her life to deep depression and unalived herself. I cleared my schedule and spent 3 hours with her, preparing my patient for her daughter's funeral. She went into every detail of the search her and her son went through, and then the phone call. This was right after my son's own tragic car accident that killed his best friend. My heart and spirit were already tender and raw, and then this. And here, I held space for her grief and appreciation that I was chosen by her to be a safe space.

Days after, I thought, what could I do to help her more? What is it that softens the grief for a mother suffering from such a loss?

Avery and I were out shopping locally, and I found a beautiful Italian cashmere wrap, and I immediately thought of her. Then, a spark went off, and I knew what I wanted to do. I probably went to 8 or more shops finding different items. I ended up wrapping it in a peachy blush ribbon. The next day, I tried to leave it quietly at her door, but she spotted me. She embraced me with tears, and we just stood there for that moment.

One year later, she still frequently confides in me about her loss and grief and her evolution. Grief is an entity that moves into our emotional house. Sometimes, it's a loud and unruly tenant. Other times, we forget it's even there.

Happy 19th Birthday to my comedy kid who has been testing me as a no-limit soldier since pregnancy. He's a mixed bag of sweet, insightful, Johnny Knoxville daredevil, delivers the absolutely best one-liners, and is with the sleep pattern of a bat in a cave. He was born with the natural ergonomics, agility, and athleticism of a Roman soldier. Don't ask me how my premie grew to be 6'8", some things just are universal mysteries. I love you INFINITY. 💖

We got these two love birds of to his Homecoming 2023! Avery and his girlfriend Izzy are so charming together. She's such a doll! They just celebrated their 1-year together as well. Have fun, kids! 💖💖

Oh hey... guess it's National Son's Day. My 3 boys aren't such small boys anymore. I'm not intimidated at all that they can pick me up and just move me out of the way.
