When beauty meets technology… ✨

This set is a perfect example of why I love combining artistry with innovation.

My client came in with an inspiration photo she loved, but instead of copying it exactly, we used AI to help analyze her unique eye shape, facial features, and natural lashes. Together, we created a customized lash map that captured the feel of her inspiration while making it more flattering, balanced, and age-appropriate for her.

Because the truth is…

AI is becoming an incredible tool in the beauty industry—not to replace artistry, but to help personalize it. It gives me another way to visualize different styles before I ever place an extension, so every set is intentionally designed for the person wearing it.

Since July is ☀️UV Safety Month☀️, let’s talk about one of the biggest concerns I hear as an esthetician…

“I read/believe that sunscreen causes cancer.”

If you’ve heard that, you’re definitely not alone.

Here’s where much of the confusion comes from:

A few years ago, some sunscreen products—primarily certain aerosol sprays—were recalled because they were contaminated with benzene, a known carcinogen. Benzene is not an approved sunscreen ingredient. It was an unexpected contaminant found in specific batches during manufacturing, not something intentionally added to sunscreen.

Another concern involves certain chemical UV filters (like oxybenzone). The FDA has requested additional safety data on several sunscreen ingredients—not because they have been proven unsafe, but because they want more long-term research. At this time, health organizations continue to recommend sun protection while research continues because there’s one thing we know for sure - sun exposure can cause skin cancer and cause your skin to age prematurely.

If you’re uncomfortable using chemical sunscreens, that’s okay! There are other ways to protect your skin from UV damage.

☀️ Consider:
• Mineral sunscreen made with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide
• Wide-brimmed hats
• UPF clothing
• Seeking shade during peak UV hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m.)
• Sunglasses with UV protection
• Limiting prolonged sun exposure

As your esthetician, my goal isn’t to tell you what to believe—it’s to give you accurate information so you can make the best decision for yourself and your family.

Whether you choose mineral sunscreen, protective clothing, or a combination of sun-safe habits, protecting your skin today helps reduce premature aging and lowers your cumulative UV exposure over time.
