I just wanted to check in with you for a moment.

These fires have affected all of us in one way or another. Whether you've lost your home, been evacuated, know someone who has, or have simply been watching our community carry so much loss, it's a lot to hold.

I've noticed how easy it is to think we should just "keep going," but our nervous systems don't work that way. Many of us are carrying stress without even realizing it. If you're more tired than usual, distracted, emotional, anxious, short-tempered, or feeling completely numb, those are all normal responses to an abnormal situation.

Please be gentle with yourself.

Drink water. Eat something nourishing, even if you don't feel hungry. Step away from the constant news updates when you need to. Rest without feeling guilty. Ask for help if you need it. And if you're neurodivergent, know that the smoke, uncertainty, disrupted routines, and constant stimulation may be especially overwhelming. It's okay to protect your peace and reduce the sensory input around you.

Most of all, remember this: you don't have to earn rest. You don't have to prove you're "handling it well." There is no right way to move through something like this.

Our community has been through something significant. Healing won't happen overnight, and that's okay. One breath, one meal, one good night's sleep, one kind conversation at a time.

Please take care of yourself. We're going to need each other, not just today, but in the weeks and months ahead. ❤️

To my Dölja Salon community,

Like so many of you, I've been watching the fires across Spokane and throughout Washington with a heavy heart. The loss, uncertainty, and displacement so many families are facing is difficult to put into words.

If you are one of my guests who has been displaced or lost your home, please know you do not have to walk through this alone.

My shelves are yours. If you need shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, lotion, or other basic hygiene items, please reach out. If I have it, it's yours.

If you simply need a place to feel cared for, my chair is open. I would be honored to provide you with a complimentary shampoo service or haircut. Sometimes having your hair washed, sitting in a quiet space, or feeling human again can make all the difference during an overwhelming time.

If you need a place to sit, rest, talk, cry, or simply be for a while, my door is open. You don't have to have an appointment or even know what you need. We are a community, and this is what community is for.

This means you can often go three to six months between major color appointments, making it a more affordable investment over time.

Traditional highlights are a wonderful option if you love bright color from the roots and enjoy maintaining that fresh salon look. However, because they begin at the scalp, they require more frequent touch-ups to keep them looking their best.

Neither approach is right or wrong. The best choice depends on your lifestyle, your budget, and how much maintenance you enjoy. My goal is to help you choose a color that not only looks beautiful the day you leave the salon but also continues to fit your life long after your appointment.
