The Dunamis Power Of God

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:19)

Our born-again spirits have been made completely new, and they are reconciled to God. God’s Spirit and our spirits are identical (1 Corinthians 6:17 and 1 John 4:17). Everything stated above, occurs in our spirit man. In our spirit is where the dunamis power of God is presently residing. We don’t have to pray and ask God for it. God’s literal presence moved into our spirit, and His dunamis power has been placed at our disposal.

This is a good way to think of it. When the electric company hooks their power up to your home, you don’t have to call them and ask them to use that power. It is at your disposal, when you need a light on in a room you flip the light switch on. The power that has been placed at your disposal is used at your command. Of course, that power has to be used in accordance with God’s will which is clearly spelled out in scripture.

Scripture is absolutely clear when it comes to healing in our in physical body, “Jesus bore our sickness and carried our disease, and by his stripes we were healed”. When sickness launches an attack on our body, the dunamis power of God is at our disposal to drive it out.

Confession: The word “reconciled” means to bring into agreement or make the same. Through Jesus, God brought us into agreement with Himself and made us like Him. With our identity in Christ, comes the dunamis power of God, placed at our disposal. Command your body to be healed.

God’s Word Puts You In God’s Class

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:” (Hebrews 2:7)

God is the supreme sovereign being in all of creation. There is no one and nothing higher than God. God sovereignly created man in His image and likeness and gave mankind sovereign authority over the earth. He remains supreme over all creation, yet He chose to work in the earth through human agreement, obedience, and faith.

Man’s disobedience put God in a very precarious situation. But God had a plan and His plan involved the supremacy of His Word. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16)

God’s Word is the truth no matter what it looks like in the natural. God’s Word says that we are healed by the stripes of Jesus, so no matter what you feel like, look like or even what the doctor says, you are healed. God works in our lives through the vehicle of His Word, so His will is carried out through people who trust Him and cooperate with His Word.

Confession: Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and placing me in Your class through your Word. As I hear, believe, and trust what You have spoken, all things become possible. Your purposes are released in my life as I yield to You and act on Your Word.

Possess What God Has Already Given Us

“Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.” (Deuteronomy 2:24)

“I have given into thine hand.” One of the greatest revelations we can receive from the Lord is that Jesus has already accomplished everything we will ever need through what He did over 2,000 years ago. We’re already healed (1 Peter 2:24), blessed with everything (Ephesians 1:3), and complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10). It’s not a matter of getting the Lord to do something; it’s a matter of resting in what He has already done. The Lord has already moved by His grace, and we just appropriate by faith what is already ours.

“Possess What Christ Has Provided.” This scripture gives us a powerful pattern for victory under the new covenant. God has already provided blessings for us through the finished work of Jesus, including healing, victory, and freedom. Yet we must actively take hold of what He has given. We must contend in faith against the forces of darkness that try to steal what is ours. The blessings of the new covenant belong to us by grace. Jesus fought and won the battle on our behalf. Healing is not something we are trying to earn; it is part of what Christ has already secured for us. Therefore, we stand firm in faith, resist the enemy, and begin to possess what God has already placed in our hands.

Confession: Just as fear and unbelief kept the Israelites from entering the promised land, they can keep us from walking in Christ’s blessings. I choose faith in God’s Word so I will not remain in sickness and defeat in the wilderness.

Walk By Faith, Not By Sight

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)

This scripture isn’t saying we should be ignorant of the problems in this life or in denial of their existence. It is saying we shouldn’t focus on the physical, temporary things of this world, but we should rather focus on the eternal, seemingly intangible things of the spiritual realm. Everything in the physical world comes out of the spiritual world. Your healing actually already exists in the spiritual world.

Prior to their sin, Adam and Eve had been walking and seeing by faith. That is the way God created them. Their physical eyes worked, but they were dominated by their spiritual sight. They walked by the eyes of their hearts. They were able to communicate with the Lord freely in that state. 2 Corinthians 4:18 is instructing us to get back to that place in our lives. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says it even more succinctly, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”

Confession: God created mankind to walk by faith. Adam and Eve lived in fellowship with Him by spiritual sight, but that sense was lost through the fall. In the new birth, faith is made alive again, enabling believers to walk by faith. By faith I can boldly declare that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus!

God Sent His Word To Heal Me

“But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;” (Matthew 12:15)

There are seventeen different times in the Gospels when Jesus healed all. Sadly, the church leaders were so opposed to healing on the Sabbath day that Jesus had to withdraw from the synagogue to heal these people. Likewise, in our day, many healing ministries have had to hold independent meetings because most churches don’t embrace healing. That is sad when you consider that bringing healing to mankind was one of the primary reasons the Word of God became a man. (Psalm 107:20, John 1:14)

Jesus was not afraid of the Pharisees, but He did withdraw from them. His response was not fear; it was wisdom. His appointed time to offer His life for mankind had not yet come, and when that time arrived, He would not draw back from the Father’s will.

In the same way, we must learn to choose our battles wisely. There are times when the Lord may lead us to avoid persecution, and there are other times when we must stand and face it. The key is to remain in close relationship with the Lord, listen for His voice, and follow His direction.

Nowhere do we find Jesus refusing to heal anyone. In light of Jesus’ statement that He could do nothing of Himself but only what He saw the Father do (John 5:19 and 8:28-29), His actions are proof enough that it is always God’s will to heal.

Confession: Sickness never has and never will be the will of God for me. Since faith comes by hearing the Word of God, healing is received as I continue to hear, believe, and agree with what God has spoken. More often than not, God ministers healing to me through my faith-filled response to His Word. God heals me through me!

Walk In The Spirit

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” (Romans 8:13)

Death is a term that not only refers to physical death but also can denote all the effects of sin in our lives. Paul here is speaking about experiencing defeat as we Christians walk after the flesh compared to experiencing victory when we walk after the Spirit. When we were slaves to sin, we got paid. The payment was death. But now that we are slaves to righteousness, we don’t get things from God on the basis of our effort. Instead, it’s on the basis of faith. It’s a gift. And that gift is eternal life.

The physical death of our bodies is not really what is being spoken of here. Physical death, as well as all results of the sin nature (i.e., sickness, depression, fear, etc.), is only a byproduct of the spiritual death that WAS already present on the inside of us. The Lord told Adam that in the day he ate of the forbidden tree, he would surely die (Genesis 2:17). Adam didn’t die physically that day, but he did die spiritually. Physical death came at age 930 for Adam (Genesis 5:5) as a byproduct of spiritual death.

Now in Jesus Christ our Spirits have been made alive again unto God through our Lord Jesus. The word “mortify” means “to kill” (Strong’s Concordance). The American Heritage Dictionary defines mortify as “to discipline by self-denial.” If we deaden ourselves to the flesh by self-denial and follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we will live.

Confession: As I submit myself to the Lord and resist the devil, he must flee from me. (James 4:7) I choose to set my mind on spiritual things and agree with what God has spoken. When my mind is focused on the Spirit, I walk in God’s kind of life. But when the mind is fixed on the flesh, it receives only what sin can produce.
