It takes thousands of hours to become a master of a craft, and most of those hours happen in silence, when no one is looking or applauding. It happens when you’re tired, questioning yourself, want to quit, and even on days when it physically hurts to keep working. You do it anyway.

As I opened this NoVA Mag | Northern Virginia Magazine Northern Virginia Magazine 2026 “Best Of” award and added it to my studio wall, I started thinking about the journey. I’ve spent most of my life as an entrepreneur. Some ventures have “failed,” others have succeeded, and I’ve learned something from every one. It’s been 10 years since I became a cosmetic tattoo artist, what I still call my “accidental business.” In those 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of changing the lives of thousands of women, training women who went on to launch their own studios, and helping so many feel more confident.

So yes, I’m proud of this award! Because it represents the peak of years of hard work, risk, mistakes, heartbreak, reinvention and perseverance. All the the things that happen behind the scenes that nobody sees.

And now I’m entering another chapter. This next chapter is about more than what I can build for myself. It’s about what I can help others build, too. And I think that might be the most meaningful success of all.
