Not all psoriasis is the same. And if you are treating every flare-up the same way, that might be why nothing is improving.

Here is what most people get wrong: they grab one cream, slather it everywhere, and wonder why some patches calm down while others get worse. That is because psoriasis has different types, and each one responds to different ingredients and approaches.

Here is the breakdown:

Plaque psoriasis: thick, raised, red patches with silvery-white scales. Shows up on elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. Needs consistent moisturizing, barrier support, and gentle exfoliation to manage buildup.

Guttate psoriasis: small, dot-like lesions that appear suddenly, often after a strep infection or stress. Common in children and young adults. Can resolve on its own but may need professional guidance.

Inverse psoriasis: smooth, red, inflamed patches in skin folds like armpits, groin, and under the breasts. Friction and moisture make it worse, so gentle care is key.

Pustular psoriasis: white, pus-filled blisters surrounded by red skin. Can be localized to hands and feet or widespread. It is not an infection. Requires medical management.
