What you see on the surface tells a story, but it doesn’t tell the full story.

Aging happens across every layer. Skin quality, collagen, fat, muscle, bone structure and internal health all influence what we see and how it changes over time.

That is why we do not approach aesthetics as a collection of isolated treatments. We assess the full picture, understand what is driving the change and build a personalized plan designed to work across those layers.

At BevelUp, we practice aesthetics as medicine. Every recommendation has a reason. Every treatment has a role. And every plan is designed with the long term in mind.

Not a menu. A method.

Aesthetics should be practiced like medicine.

We don’t add treatments because they’re trending, and we don’t keep offerings simply because they’ve been part of the practice for years. We evaluate the evidence, watch the outcomes, and make decisions based on what actually serves the patient.

Medicine is never static. Some therapies are well established, others continue to evolve, and our approach should evolve as the research does.

I look at every patient almost like an ongoing case study. How are they responding? What’s working? What isn’t? What should we adjust?

The goal is never to follow a fixed formula. It’s to continually refine the plan around the individual and make better clinical decisions over time. That’s the philosophy I built BevelUp around, and it’s the standard we continue to practice.

Copper is much bigger than a skin-health conversation.

Research shows that GHK, the naturally occurring peptide that binds copper to form GHK-Cu, declines by roughly 60% between early adulthood and age 60.

Another study published in The American Journal of Pathology found type I procollagen levels to be 68% lower in aged skin compared with young skin.

But copper’s role extends well beyond collagen.

It’s also required for mitochondrial energy production, playing a critical role in the electron transport chain that allows our cells to produce ATP.

Copper is required only in small quantities, but it’s essential to multiple physiological processes, including energy production, connective tissue formation, iron metabolism, antioxidant defense and nervous system function.

In more than 20 years of treating patients in dermatology and aesthetics, I’ve seen the same thing repeatedly: sometimes, what we’re trying to correct in the skin isn’t a skin problem alone.

Inflammation, dehydration, hormonal changes, insulin resistance, nutrition and metabolic health all affect the way skin functions and ages. And when those factors are part of the equation, treating the surface only gets you so far.

That understanding has fundamentally shaped the way we approach aging at BevelUp. We’re still looking at skin, structure and proportion, but we’re also asking what’s happening physiologically and how it may be contributing to what we see.

The skin tells us a story. Understanding the physiology behind what presents in the skin, and how those processes are connected throughout the body, allows us to practice medicine more comprehensively rather than treating each concern in isolation.

Think of the body as incredibly sophisticated machinery. Many regenerative treatments aren’t designed to override it. They’re designed to work with processes already happening inside it.

Peptides and biostimulatory treatments can act as signals, helping activate pathways involved in repair, regeneration and healthy function.

There comes a point when hiding becomes harder than being seen.

Not because the fear disappears. Not because you suddenly have it all figured out. And not because you know exactly what comes next.

I’m learning that strength can look a lot like trust. Trusting my own pace. Trusting what I’ve built. Trusting myself even when the path ahead looks different than I thought it would.

There will always be moments that challenge that trust. Moments that make you question what you know, where you’re going, or whether you’re ready for what’s next.

Maybe stepping into your power isn’t about having the answers.

Maybe it’s knowing you’ll find them.

And allowing yourself to be fully seen along the way.

I spent years in dermatology and aesthetics
learning what worked and what didn’t.

BevelUp is what I always wished existed.

5 years later, I’m so proud of what we’ve built and focused on the future.

There are 𝟑 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 that begin to shift as we age.

▶︎ 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞
Your mitochondria produce ATP- the energy that powers every cellular function in your body. As ATP production decreases, you begin to feel it as fatigue, slower recovery, and reduced cellular performance.

▶︎ 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
When cells become less responsive to insulin, glucose stays circulating in the bloodstream instead of being used for energy. Over time, this contributes to inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and accelerated aging.

▶︎ 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
When inflammation becomes persistent, it creates stress throughout the body. That stress disrupts cellular repair, recovery, and many of the systems responsible for healthy aging.

These biological shifts influence how you look, feel, and age.
At BevelUp, wellness starts by understanding what’s happening beneath the surface; measuring how your body is functioning, identifying where breakdown is occurring, and supporting those systems strategically.

For the next month, I will be personally overseeing all new wellness patients as we roll out our program.

Peptides are signals. They are not cures.

When I “stack” peptides, it’s not about chasing more. It’s about matching signals to a goal, because one goal is influenced by multiple variables.

Example: recovery is not one thing. It’s inflammation status, sleep quality, nutrition, stress load, training volume, and how your body is currently responding. Aesthetic outcomes work the same way. Your biology sets the ceiling.

That’s why we measure first.
That’s why we monitor.
That’s why we adjust.

You must measure what you want to optimize.
And you cannot optimize what you don’t track.

I turn 49 this year.

Chronological age is just time.
Biological age is function.

They are not always the same.

Biological age reflects how well your body is repairing, regulating inflammation, managing stress, and maintaining metabolic stability. It’s influenced by sleep, nutrition, movement, stress load, and environment not just birthdays.

This year, I’m measuring mine.

I’ll be completing epigenetic testing to establish my biological baseline and I’ll share the results.

Because if I’m going to speak about longevity, optimization, and aging better, I’m going to measure it🖤
