As I prep for my November market… somehow “a few soaps, teas, and creams” turns into total chaos. 😂

One of my favorite parts of building our homestead is getting to decide where everything goes — and more importantly, why. 🌿

This weekend I met with Elder from Permaculture FX, and he gave me so much insight into how to work with the land instead of against it.

We talked about what already grows well here, which native plants make sense, where different food-producing areas could go, and how to create a healthier, more regenerative ecosystem over time.

The goal isn’t just to make the property pretty.
I want to build something that can nourish our family, support wildlife and pollinators, produce food naturally, and eventually give back to the community too.
It’s definitely going to take time — this is a years-long vision — but seeing it start to come together on paper makes it feel very real. 🤎

Little by little, Kismet Meadows is becoming exactly what I imagined.

Kismet Meadows is getting back out into the community. 🌿💚

I’ll be at It’s Her Market at The Woods in Lake City on Saturday, November 7 from 11 AM–3 PM.

I’m keeping things simple and bringing the Kismet Meadows staples people already know and love — handmade soaps, herbal teas, and magnesium creams — with more products coming as we continue to grow.

I’ll also have a featured herbal tea available to taste onsite, so you can sip, shop, and find a new favorite while you’re there.
Small is good. Simple is good. And I’m excited to keep building Kismet Meadows one market at a time.

And just like that… we’ve officially broken ground. 🏡🌿

For months this has been plans, permits, measurements, drawings, phone calls, and a whole lot of imagining.

Now I can actually stand on the property and see where our home is going to be.

The foundation work has started, the footprint is taking shape, and Kismet Meadows is officially moving from a dream on paper to something we can see.

There is still a long way to go, but this one feels BIG. 🤎

I’m so excited to keep sharing the build, the homestead, the gardens, the animals, and all the little pieces that will eventually make this place home.

Hi, I’m Jessica — project manager, adjunct professor, business owner, nature lover, and the person behind Kismet Meadows.

Kismet Meadows grew from my love of simple, natural products and my desire to create something that feels calm, intentional, and connected to nature. Right now that means herbal teas, soaps, skincare, and self-care products, but the bigger dream is to continue growing the brand alongside our future homestead and create something lasting for my family.

And yes… the elephant has meaning too. 🐘 Elephants are often associated with strength, wisdom, family, loyalty, and calm confidence — all things that really connect with what I want Kismet Meadows to represent. The inspiration also came from one of my favorite travel memories, so it felt like the perfect little mascot for this next chapter.

I’m excited to start getting Kismet Meadows back out into local markets, meeting people face-to-face, connecting with other small businesses, learning what you love, and continuing to grow one step at a time.

You’ll be seeing more behind-the-scenes moments, market prep, new products, and probably plenty of trial and error along the way. 😂

Welp… the countdown officially begins. 🏡🌿

Our house permit application has been submitted, and if everything stays on track, construction should begin in about TWO WEEKS.

It’s one thing to talk about building a homestead someday… and another thing entirely to realize the house is actually about to start going up. 😭

There are still a million little things to figure out, but this feels like such a huge milestone for us.

Soon this land won’t just be the place where we dream about Kismet Meadows.

It’ll be home. 🤎

I’m going to share the process as we go — the build, the land, the garden plans, the animals, the mistakes, the wins… all of it.

We’re also slowly working toward something much bigger — creating our own little homestead from the ground up.

That means raw land, lots of plans, a future home, gardens, chickens, a farm stand, and probably plenty of moments where we have absolutely no idea what we’re doing. 😂

But that’s part of the journey.

My hope is to eventually grow more of our own food, offer fresh produce to our community, continue creating and sourcing simple natural products, and build a slower life that feels a little more like the way our grandparents and great-grandparents lived.

So I’m going to start sharing that side of Kismet Meadows too — the progress, the mistakes, the projects, the dreams, and everything in between.
