Deep Kneaded Healing
Massage Therapy My name is Danielle Ireland. I'm new to Tennessee! Moved from North Houston, TX.
I transferred my Massage License and purchased what is known, by Union City natives, as 'The Little Red Schoolhouse'. I transformed one of the former school rooms into my massage studio. I offer Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Relaxation, Prenatal, Sports, Swedish, Hot Stone, Chair and Geriatric massage modalities. In addition to massaging out of my studio, I offer mobile massages. This means that I would travel to you, set up my table/chair, and massage you in the comfort of your own home/place of work/event.

Deep Kneaded Healing is taking an immediate pause.
This hiatus is needed for several reasons, predominantly physical.
For all booked clients, I am very sorry for the abrupt nature of this announcement. I will be taking note of all booked clients, in the order they were booked, to reach out to upon my return to work.
I have built good relationships with many of my clients and do not want to be so succinct that I produce unnecessary concern.
So, for those interested, I have a lengthy explanation below.
Avoiding injury requires quite a bit of self-care as a massage therapist. Before my daughter was born, I used much of my time, when I wasn’t working on clients, working on myself.
Since my daughter was born, I have taken clients during her regular nap time. I breastfed and/or pumped for 15 months. Which took a significant amount of time and energy.
When I was 18 years old, I was in a major car accident where I died, was revived, went into a coma & woke up with very large screws in my pelvis. I could not move my left leg. One of the screws is through my iliac and sacrum. Another through my acetabulum. My tailbone was also broken and healed crooked. This made third trimester very painful for me. P***c symphysis dysfunction made my left leg give out many times during late pregnancy and I’d have to collapse and sit wherever I was. I laughed it off and carried on. I knew it was temporary.
My water broke early but my cervix did not open. I had major contractions for over 8 hours before my doctor arrived for my c-section. It was a massive amount of pressure within my pelvis. My back and shoulders spasmed the entire surgery. My back and shoulders have spasmed every day since.
I took 5 months off of work after having my daughter.
I did not have or take the time to work on myself.
We do not have family around and newborn is a full-time job.
Truly, any age as a stay-at-home parent is a full-time job.
I felt guilty for being away from my clients for so long and felt I should return to work.
Yesterday was a year since my return to work.
And yesterday, the spasms were very loud.
I need to take a break to take time to practice yoga and get my body back to some semblance of balance.
I have been giving of myself without giving back to myself for too long and I feel I’m at a point of crisis.
I need time to get objective and formulate a schedule that affords time for me to take care of me.
Honestly, I’m a bit embarrassed. As a giver, I learned hard lessons about over-giving many years ago.
But motherhood is a completely different life transition.
You hear, in so many ways, to not lose your ‘spark’ or ‘you’ in becoming a parent..
I didn’t want to lose my sense of self or everything I had built prior to becoming a mother.
But I think you just get a new spark and a new vocation.
And the better advice would be to strive to keep balance while integrating your new self with your old.
Motherhood really does require a lot of sacrifice.
And I love my daughter more than anything in the world.
I’ve really tried to fully show up for her and my clients, but have certainly lost balance within all of it.
My daughter is so sweet and kind and giving.
And I need to set the example of giving to yourself first.
To not give to or past the point of hurting yourself.
While on leave, I intend to make posts and/or videos with self-care exercises/stretches that help open up the most common areas that I work on in my clients.
I am unsure when I will be ready to return to work at this moment, but will update when I am.
