Social media, endless screen time, filters, trends, opinions... it’s a lot. They’re trying to figure out who they are while scrolling through who everyone else appears to be.

One thing I can help with? Their relationship with their hair.
When your teen sits in my chair, yes... I’m probably going to remind them to sit up straight. 😅
Not because I’m picking on them.
Because posture matters.

It helps me create an even, balanced haircut, and it’s a habit that benefits their neck, shoulders, confidence, and overall well-being long after they leave the salon.

No, I’m not here to save anyone.

But I am here to teach them how to understand their curls, take care of them, and leave feeling more confident than when they walked in.

For a long time, I thought becoming a better curl specialist meant becoming more loyal to the method.

Now I think becoming better meant learning when to loosen my grip.

My foundation started with Lorraine Massey’s philosophy and the Curly Girl Method.

It taught me things I’ll always respect:
— stop fighting texture
— look at shape differently
— work with what naturally exists

That education changed my career.

But over 15+ years behind the chair, I noticed something:

Clients started trying to fit themselves into systems…

instead of systems adapting to them.

More moisture.
Less shampoo.
Avoid ingredients.
Follow rules.

And while those things can absolutely be useful…

they aren’t universal.

So today, I don’t offer a “DevaCurl cut.”

Not because I reject my training.

But because I evolved from it.

I kept the philosophy.
Expanded the toolbox.
Questioned more.
Observed more.
Personalized more.

My job isn’t to make your curls fit the method.

My job is to make the method fit YOU.

For those who are new here… hi, I’m Meg ✨

I started specializing in curly hair back in 2008 at Devachan Salon in New York City, a special place that completely shaped the way I see curls, artistry, education, and human connection.

In 2015, I opened my own salon and built a career around helping people feel more like themselves through their hair 🌿

After nearly dying from fibroids, the pandemic, and undergoing a hysterectomy, I started questioning how I truly wanted to live.

In 2022, I moved to Florida to build a slower, more intentional life ☀️

These days, my work is rooted in something deeper than “before & after” photos.

I care about:

✨ honest education
✨ thoughtful shaping
✨ realistic routines
✨ helping people feel seen

I still think like a New Yorker.
I just live slower now.

A transformation we got to witness with Natalie at BLOOM this weekend 🤍

She was our live model for the event, and people could not stop admiring her curls, texture, and final shape throughout the day. Watching women connect to and appreciate natural texture in real time was such a beautiful experience.

For Natalie’s look, we created a soft layered bob with more face framing and curly bangs to really enhance her movement and shape ✨
