These are good tips for maintaining your investment; However, the most important thing about preserving color isn't about what's in it- it's about it's pH.

Professional products are pH balanced. Your hair and skin is naturally acidic. When the pH is too high, it "opens" up the hair and the color molecules escape out of it. Professional products balance the pH, ensuring your hair stays "closed." This also inevitably helps with frizz for this reason. The hair layer seals with an acidic pH.

This is why your color fades even with "color safe" drugstore products. It's pH just isn't *as* high as the other ones, but it's still not low enough to preserve the color.

This, along with the 3 previously mentioned things, will ensure you get the best longevity out of your color.
