On September 1, 2009, at 23, I opened my first little studio.
It started as Studio 110. Then Studio Dandelion. And after the pandemic in 2020 it grew into True You Studio.
The names changed because I changed. And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just building a place to do hair.
I was building a third space.
A place where you can show up exactly as you are.
Where artists and small businesses connect.
Where community ideas get dreamed up between haircuts.
Where people laugh, cry, vent, celebrate, create, organize, and sometimes just sit quietly.
Where being “different” isn’t something you have to explain, you actually get celebrated.
After all these years, I’m really proud that this little business has become something bigger than the service I originally opened it to provide.
Hair is still what I do.
But True You is what I’ve been building.
A place to belong.
A place to connect.
A place to be a little more yourself.
17 years later, I think the name finally says it all. 💗
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every person who has ever sat in my chair, trusted me, supported my business, shared an idea, made me laugh, or helped this little space become what it is.

Some people just exude kindness… and Joe was one of them. I was honored to know him for years and grateful to be invited on his journey during some of the harder times. His gentle laugh and big heart always shone through. I will never forget his calm aura and his kindness (one of the reasons when he asked how he could help with Pride Fest, I immediately asked if he’d volunteer on our safety team). It is always hard to say goodbye to friend, but his memory will always be imprinted in my heart.
