The disrespect and lack of compassion shown by many white Americans toward Nolan Wells and his family are beyond belief. I cannot understand how or why anyone could choose to dislike, devalue, or dismiss another human being simply because of the color of their skin.
Nolan was a son, a loved one, and a human being whose life had value. His family is grieving and asking questions that deserve to be taken seriously—not met with indifference, mockery, or a lack of basic human empathy.
What happened to Nolan should remind us that racism is not just something found in history books. It can still show itself in the way people speak about victims, the way they treat grieving families, and the value they place on certain lives.
Nolan’s life mattered. His family matters. And his name deserves to be spoken with dignity, compassion, and respect.

The entire Fox interview was an insult to Nolan Wells, his family, and basic human decency.
Not once did the men, their attorneys, or the interviewer show the empathy, compassion, or respect that should have been given to Nolan and his grieving family. Instead, it felt as though Nolan’s humanity was reduced to a talking point. And that is what makes this so deeply disturbing.
It takes me back to a painful chapter in American history, when the death and suffering of Black people could be dismissed because they were viewed as property rather than as human beings with families, dreams, and lives that mattered.
The faces may look different. The circumstances may have changed. But the attitude toward the victim can look painfully familiar.
History doesn’t always repeat itself exactly. Sometimes it echoes.
And when a Black family is left demanding answers about the death of their loved one while others discuss the case without showing even basic empathy for the person who died, we have every right to ask ourselves how much has really changed.
Nolan Wells was a human being. His life mattered. His family deserves answers. And his name deserves to be spoken with dignity and respect.
