Crystallized Color
Hello! My name is Crystal and I'm a stylist at Capelli Salon in Washington NC.

My client wants to eventually embrace her salt and pepper hair. We did a full highlight with teased babylights and I toned her to an ashy creamy blonde. I want to see how she likes the lighter color before we begin toning her to match her light silver.
The transition process has begun!

This client is getting a partial retouch. We do a full highlight one time and then a partial the next. She is growing out damage from extensions so her hair is already fragile. We also do strengthening treatments in between sessions.
Ive had people wonder why highlight retouches are the same as a highlight service. This is the reason why.
1. Hair grows at different speeds. 2. When you weave hair, it is virtually impossible to grab the same pieces every time. For these 2 reasons, you will have blonde pieces at different areas down the hair shaft.
When I have a section if hair, I have 3 choices:
I can just highlight the dark chunk of new growth and leave the rest and possibly have pixilated highlights (trust me. On fine hair, you'll see every mistake)
I can highlight the new growth and feather it down to cover the darker pieces and try not to get it on the blonde parts....but if I do, those blonde pieces are going to fall off bc of hoe fine her hair already is.
Or I can weave the hair, apply lightner to the new growth abd then isolate the darker pieces with another piece of foil so that I can keep as much blonde hair as I can away from the lightener.
I do the last option and it can take a little longer BUT it keeps your hair healthier!
So a highlight retouch isnt any easier or faster bc you've already done it. If anything, it takes even more strategy to make it look good!
Yes, I saw the little bleach bead and wiped it off ❤️

This is a great example of how its so important to take YOU into consideration when looking for inspiration online. I wanted to wear a hat but I tend to look harsh in them. They tend to be for function and not fashion for me so I looked online...I literally googled "how to look cute in a hat" and saw this tutorial. Simple enough but as you can see....our end results are VERY different.
Most noticeably, we dont have the same texture of hair. Mine is thicker and more wavy. Hers is more fine and straight. I am in eastern NC with lots of humidity and im gonna be working and sweating. She is making a social media video in an air conditioned setting. My fringe is shorter than hers.
I still look cute. Just not as polished. It's important when looking for inspiration, add as much detail as you can into your search. Look for a model that has YOUR kind of hair, your face shape....get as close to you as you can get.
Get the look and then make it your own 🥰

No bleach highlights! My client wanted some warmth for the summer but didn't want the harshness of bleach. We love how it turned out!

My client wanted a little refresh. We brightened her up but left lots of dimension and gave her some extra layers for volume.
Gorgeous!

Definitely not the best before pic but hopefully, you get the idea here....my client has been covering her greys every 5 weeks and little by little, her hair has gotten dark and darker. She wanted to brighten her hair just a smidge but keep her hair close to her natural color. We did 1 round of color pigment remover, which helps to loosen and remove color pigment but wont lift her natural color. Then we covered her greys and toned the ends for a flawless blend! Now she has a rich dimensional color without bleach!
