5 things I quit doing with explanations in each caption ❤️‍🔥

As an industry, we need to stop normalizing working over previous brow tattoos that clearly need to be lightened/removed first.

Early in my career, I wasn’t educated on cover-up work so I took on whatever came my way. I’ve since learned that not all money is good money. Even when there’s a chance I can make someone’s brows look a little better, most clients are far better off going through removal first so we have real freedom with the shape and color and aren’t stuck working around what’s already there.

Plus a “color correction” on someone who needs removal is a temporary fix and I believe it’s unethical to take someone’s money for that. We are tattooing people’s faces. That should be taken seriously and clients deserve the best option available to them, even when that means completing removal before they ever book with you.

My name is attached to everything I work on, so I only take the cover-up cases I’m 100% confident calling mine!

I spent my first years believing the purpose of my work was to achieve perfect symmetry but now I know the purpose is to enhance what the client already has.

How much symmetry you can achieve is going to vary from client to client. In some cases, you can get the brows looking like sisters. In others, your client will have a more pronounced imbalance whether that’s in their muscles, their bone structure, or their hair growth.

If correcting it means shaving off half of their brow and tattooing bare skin, don’t. It doesn’t age well, and it doesn’t work long term. I will just map each brow individually and make the small adjustments that bring the brows closer to balanced.

I’m here to look out for my clients long term, so I aim to be open and honest with them about what’s realistic for their face.

This used to be my favorite part of the procedure and easily the most satisfying.

I believe concealer should only ever be a tool to make the shape pop. It should never be how you clean up smudges, sharpen your lines, or adjust the shape. Your pre-draw should be as sharp as it can possibly be before concealer ever touches the skin.

And every one of these clients came back wanting to go a little darker, which is exactly how I like it. We can always add more but we can’t take it away, so we start soft and build from there 🙂‍↕️

Results vary, of course. Your skin type and your lifestyle both play into how your brows heal and how long they hold! However, my goal is the same for every client who sits in my chair: brows that make your mornings easier and your life a little simpler ❤️‍🔥
