🚨 Your locs might be trying to tell you something…
If your parts are disappearing, your locs are starting to marry together, or styling has become a struggle, it may be time for a retwist. Consistent maintenance helps keep your locs healthy, neat, and easier to manage over time.
1️⃣ Your locs are marrying together
Adjacent locs begin joining at the roots because the new growth isn’t being separated regularly.
2️⃣ Your locs are becoming difficult to wash
Without proper separation, washing can increase tangling and make loc maintenance more challenging.
3️⃣ Your new growth is becoming difficult to manage
When your roots have several inches of new growth, your locs may start to tangle together at the base, making maintenance more difficult.
✨ Remember: A retwist isn’t just about appearance. It’s also about maintaining the integrity of your locs.

I’m SO mad at myself that I didn’t get as much content that I needed to post this 🤦🏾♀️. I just knew I had to fix what I was looking at and went straight to work. When I tell you you just had to be there because whole shop was shook and confused! This one was a day’s of hard work. He walked in thinking he was getting a regularly scheduled program retwist and walked out with a TRANSFORMATION.
I could go on a rant about how wrong some of us “hairstylists” or “locticians/loc stylists” can be but it’s not the time or place. 🙄 Mind you, he went to somebody after the first one and she continued giving him a retwist like nothing was wrong and still didn’t say anything.
At the end of the day my client walked out happy and lighter! Had the biggest smile on his face and couldn’t stop showing and giving gratitude. I might’ve made a new friend ☺️.
All of that to say, we need to do better at being honest and intentional with our clients. It’s okay if you don’t know how to do something or feel uncomfortable BUT if you are trying something new or out of your comfort zone, confidence is key, but honesty is a MUST. Let the person in the chair CHOOSE to have their head played with. Everything isn’t just about the money at the cost of damage or aesthetics, especially if you really care about what you do.
Thank you for reading my TED TALK 😘.
And I wouldn’t trade it for anything 😌🙏🏾 It be crazy when you see what your pray for happen in real time and I thank God every day.

Not all maintenance is the same… let’s talk about it 🌿✨
Retwisting (palm rolling) and interlocking both maintain locs, but they work very differently.
Retwisting is done by palm rolling the new growth with product to smooth and guide the hair.
It gives you that fresh, soft, clean look ✨ but it’s temporary and works best if you keep up with your maintenance schedule.
Interlocking uses a tool or your fingers to pull the loc through its root, creating a tighter, more secured hold.
This method lasts longer, holds up better with water and active lifestyles, and doesn’t rely on product.
So what’s the difference?
Retwist = softer, more flexible, fresh look
Interlocking = tighter, longer-lasting, low-maintenance feel
Neither is “better” than the other… it’s about what fits your lifestyle, hair texture, and journey.
Your locs, your crown
Sometimes tips don’t always look like money…and that’s okay in my book 💋.
