Sometimes the hardest part of the journey isn’t the mountain. It’s realizing the finish line is farther away than you expected. Yesterday on Mt. Bierstadt, we thought we were hiking just over seven miles. Finding out it was closer to eight didn’t change the mountain—but it changed our mindset.
Life has a way of doing that. Just when we think we’re almost there, life asks us to keep going.
The lesson isn’t to wish the journey were shorter.
The lesson is to adjust your expectations…and keep climbing. Because sometimes courage is simply taking the next step anyway. ❤️. Find out more at realfoodrecovery4u.com.

Breaking Sugar Addiction | Netta Gorman 08/20/2026

Just dropped on Apple, Spotify and YouTube. Food addiction, ultra processed food recovery, and sugar addiction are explored in this episode of Real Food Recovery Podcast™. This conversation focuses on breaking sugar cravings, understanding compulsive eating patterns, and what sustainable recovery from ultra processed food addiction can look like.
Real Food Recovery Podcast™ was created from a society wrestling with ultra-processed food addiction and the deep exhaustion that comes from feeling trapped in destructive patterns. After decades of obsession, frustration, and starting over more times than can be counted, Paige Alexander holds this space to speak honestly about what it takes to heal, offering lived experience, grounded perspective, and practical tools to rebuild a life rooted in peace instead of chaos.
In this episode, Paige is joined by Netta Gorman, author of Break Free From Sugar Cravings. Netta shares her personal journey of struggling with intense sugar cravings, emotional eating, and the cycle of restriction and relapse that so many people experience.
She describes a long history of feeling controlled by sugar, relying on sweets for comfort, and experiencing physical symptoms such as bloating, fatigue, and digestive distress while believing it was simply a lack of willpower.
Together, Paige and Netta explore what actually drives sugar addiction, why discipline alone is not enough, and what it takes to step out of the cycle of cravings and into lasting change. Netta shares what ultimately helped her break free from constant cravings and begin rebuilding a healthier, more stable relationship with food and her body. If you are struggling with sugar cravings, emotional eating, or feeling stuck in cycles of restriction and relapse, this conversation will meet you where you are.

Grief and Gratitude Can Walk Together

Today was my 15th annual birthday climb up Pikes Peak.

For the first time in 15 years, my biggest supporter, my teammate, and my greatest fan wasn’t waiting at the summit to cheer me on.

I missed him with every step.

But somewhere along the trail, I realized that grief and gratitude can exist at the same time.

Today, I’m grateful—for the years we shared, for my dear friend Jenny who climbed beside me, for the kindness of strangers, and for another sunrise, another summit, and another chance to keep moving forward.

Some mountains change you forever.

This one always will. ❤️

One More Step

Some mountains are made of dirt and stone.

Others are made of grief, fear, setbacks, or starting over.

The Manitou Incline reminded me that the way through every challenge is the same: don’t focus on the entire mountain. Just take the next step. Those small, consistent steps have a way of carrying us farther than we ever imagined.

Whatever mountain you’re facing today, trust that your next step matters. Keep climbing.

Meal prep doesn’t have to be perfect…sometimes it just has to get done.

I’ve been traveling and life has been busy, so yes…I’m a “cheater,” and I don’t care. 😄 I discovered Whole Foods’ pre-cooked grilled chicken breast and salmon, brought them home, portioned them out, and froze the extras. Now I have healthy protein ready to throw into a quick meal with stir-fried veggies, lentils, and a splash of coconut aminos.

Here’s the truth: Meal prep is the #1 thing I do to keep myself safe. If I need a shortcut now and then to stay on track with my goals, I’ll gladly take it. Progress beats perfection every single time.

When Willpower Isn’t Enough: Why You Feel Out of Control Around Food
Do you ever feel like you have a magnetic pull towards certain foods—like the chips, cookies, or ice cream are making decisions for you? If you’re a woman who’s tried “all the diets” and still finds yourself caught in cycles of cravings, binges, and emotional eating, you’re in the right place. You might wonder: Why can’t I just stop? Why do I keep sabotaging myself, especially when I want to eat better? Why does food feel like both comfort and prison?

A Taste of Summer 🍑

Some of my favorite childhood memories include a simple bowl of cottage cheese and sweet, juicy peaches fresh from summer. It was comfort food then, and now I love it even more because it’s a protein powerhouse. Sometimes the simplest foods really are the best.

The next time someone offers you peaches and cottage cheese… just say YES! 🍑
