This October, Rooibos seeds from the Cederberg will travel to the International Space Station as part of the groundbreaking Rooibos in Space programme, championed by the South African Rooibos Council and MaxIQ Space.

After several weeks in microgravity and space radiation, the seeds will return to Earth to be planted and compared with seeds that stayed behind.

Learners from seven Cederberg schools will help study their germination, growth, resilience and yield as part of a real scientific investigation.

For Annique Rooibos, this is more than an exciting journey. It is a proud celebration of South African heritage, innovation and the next generation of young scientists.
