We need our leaders to confront violent crime with the urgency it deserves and take meaningful action to protect people in this country.

I genuinely believe the death sentence should be brought back for anyone who rapes or murders women.

I struggle with the idea of someone taking an innocent woman’s life and then going to prison, where the state continues to provide food, accommodation and other necessities using taxpayers’ money.

These are the same taxpayers who are working, paying taxes and trying to provide for their families. Meanwhile, someone who has deliberately taken another person’s life can spend years in prison with their basic needs provided by the state.

I also believe our prison system needs serious reform. When prisons are perceived as being too comfortable or when people feel that the consequences for the most serious crimes are not severe enough, we need to take a hard look at our justice system.

I believe the death sentence needs to be brought back. People who deliberately kill innocent people should face the strongest possible punishment under the law.

Stop teaching women how to stay safe.

Stop telling us not to run alone, not to walk at night, to share our location, carry this, avoid that and take every possible precaution just to stay alive.

What about making criminals fear the consequences of their actions?

We need drastic measures to make South Africa safe for EVERYONE, not more rules for women to follow.
