Colour theory for melanin rich lips has to be approached from a different angle as we need to neutralize and even out the lip colour before considering adding any colour. If not, by simply adding red or pink or …may end up making the lips darker.

And the beauty of the procedure, is that You, as the client, don’t need to choose a colour. Understanding advanced colour theory allows me to identify which colours I need to use to blend the full lip colour to restore the colour of your lips natural undertone. That is by far the best recipe.

Mild Lip Neutralization✨

When approaching neutralization, we look at two elements.
1️⃣ The value of the lip 👉🏻 how “grey” the lips look
2️⃣ The saturation of hyperpigmentation 👉🏻 hyperpigmentation in the lips on a scale from low/light to high/dark

Approaching this lip blushing case, as my clients hyperpigmentation had a low saturation with a low-mid value, shifting the “darkness” required a colour mix that was more about restoring her natural lip colour with just a hint of neutralization to keep the very slight hyperpigmentation at bay, resulting in a soft blush pink lip.

This client will most likely need two sessions, spaced 12-weeks apart, with results lasting 2-3 years 🤍

“How long does it last?”…

This common, frequently asked question is dependent on several factors ⤵️

•skin type 👉🏻 dry vs oily

But in a nutshell, brows will exfoliate out the skin and fade over a period of 1-3 years.

My client came to me requesting a colour boost on her ombré powder brows she had done elsewhere about a year ago.

Her brows had faded beautifully making it possible for us to add more colour to help them stand out more.

Immediately after the treatment the brows are dark and intense in colour, but over the next 6-weeks the colour settles right down, looking less “structured” and blending effortlessly with the other facial features.

My client wanted to focus her lip blush appointment around restoring her natural contour, esp on the top right upper section where her lip was starting to fall in due to dental work.

Her natural border had lost pigment over time so it looked like her lips were smaller than they actually were, but fortunately we were able to restore and “fill in” her natural contour, giving back her shape and enhancing her natural colour 😍

Healed results are in and we’re both thrilled!
