Kidney BOB & Eugene Update: The Odd Couple Return (Now Accepting Snacks and Donations)

Greetings, humans. Kidney BOB here. Yes, that Kidney BOB — the hardest working bean in the business.

It’s been a few weeks since I moved into Eugene’s slightly chaotic body. I must report: the neighborhood is… interesting. The brain forgets why it walked into rooms, the legs complain when climbing stairs, and the stomach believes snacks are a constitutional right.

As for Eugene, he’s still recovering. Some days he’s strong, some days he’s tired, and some days he stares at the fridge like it personally betrayed him. Recovery after transplant isn’t a straight road — it’s more like a hiking trail designed by someone who hates hikers.

But here’s the important part: we are healing. Slowly. Steadily. Together.

Now, about this thing called “temporary medical leave.” Apparently, while I’m busy filtering blood and saving his life, Eugene is not allowed to go to work and earn money. Frankly, I find this to be extremely poor planning by the human resources department.

This is where you incredible humans come in.

We’ve started a campaign on to help Eugene survive this recovery period without having to sell important assets like his TV, his car, or me (and I am NOT negotiable).

Your support helps with:
• Medical costs
• Daily living expenses
• Recovery time so I can become the legendary kidney I was born to be

Even the smallest donation helps. If you can’t donate, sharing the post helps more than you know. Moral support, jokes, memes, and snack deliveries are also considered essential medical supplies.

From the bottom of Eugene’s heart and the middle of his abdomen (that’s me),

Thank you for helping us keep going.

Kidney BOB & Eugene — Recovery Log: Day “Wait, why are we tired from doing nothing?”

BOB here. Reporting live from inside Eugene, where today’s main event was… a nap. Followed by another nap. And then a recovery nap from the first two naps.

Honestly, I don’t know what he’s complaining about. I’m the one filtering litres of blood like a champion, and he’s acting like standing up is an Olympic sport.

This morning Eugene said,
"BOB, I feel weak."

Excuse me, sir. I’ve been doing the job of two kidneys on probation, learning a new body, fighting off rejection, AND dealing with medication mood swings. Yesterday he cried because the kettle boiled too aggressively.

We’ve agreed on a system now:
• I handle the filtering.
• He handles the snacks.
• We both handle the healing.

I will say this though — he’s trying. Every step he takes, every pill he swallows, every day he keeps going… I can feel it. The determination. The stubbornness. The quiet hope.

We’re not at 100% yet.
Some days we’re at 60%.
Some days we’re at 12% with a strong Wi-Fi signal.

But we’re still here. Still fighting. Still filtering.

And between you and me… I think we’re going to be just fine.
