Dear NMCZ Inspectors,
Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia

Kindly take a keen interest in the welfare of lecturers during your inspections of nursing and midwifery colleges and universities.

Please consider asking lecturers when they were last paid, how much they are being paid, and whether their salaries are being paid consistently and on time.

The quality of nursing and midwifery education depends heavily on the welfare and motivation of the lecturers providing that education.

Unfortunately, some colleges and universities appear to be mistreating and exploiting lecturers, despite relying on them to train and prepare NMCZ members and future health professionals.

NMCZ inspectors, please do not only inspect classrooms, laboratories, skills labs and student records. Kindly also take an interest in the welfare of the lecturers.

Your members deserve fair treatment, timely payment and decent working conditions.

A lecturer who is not paid cannot be expected to remain motivated indefinitely.

Let the inspection process also protect the people who are responsible for training our future nurses and midwives.

We need quality education, but quality education starts with properly treated and motivated lecturers.
