FEELING FINE? YOUR LIVER MIGHT DISAGREE
Your liver is a silent worker, it can be damaged for months or even years before you feel a single symptom. It has no pain nerves, and it’s so good at compensating that serious harm can build up quietly while you go about your normal life feeling perfectly healthy.
By the time symptoms like fatigue, jaundice, or abdominal pain show up, the damage may already be advanced.
That’s why a Liver Function Test (LFT) every 3 months matters — especially if you:
âś… Take medication regularly
âś… Drink alcohol
âś… Have diabetes, obesity, or a family history of liver disease
âś… Simply want peace of mind
A simple blood test can catch problems early — while they’re still easy and affordable to treat.

DO THIS TEST BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED……
Love is powerful, but it can’t predict your baby’s blood type. Did you know two healthy people with no symptoms can each carry a “silent” gene for sickle cell or thalassemia? If both partners carry the trait, every pregnancy carries a 25% chance of a child with a serious blood disorder.
The good news: a simple Hemoglobin (HB) Electrophoresis test tells you and your partner exactly what you’re carrying before it becomes a lifelong journey for your family.
âś… Quick and affordable
✅ Painless — just a blood sample
âś… Gives you real answers for real planning
Come in as a couple and get tested together. Because the strongest relationships are built on knowledge, not guesswork.

WHY YOU SHOULD GET A FULL BLOOD COUNT (FBC) EVERY 2 MONTHS…..
Your blood tells a story about your health — often before symptoms even show up. A Full Blood Count (FBC/CBC) checks your red cells, white cells, and platelets, helping detect:

1. Anaemia – low red blood cells causing fatigue and weakness
2. Infections – abnormal white cell counts signal your body is fighting something
3. Immune issues – early warning signs before they become serious
4. Bleeding/clotting problems – through platelet levels
5•Overall wellness tracking – so you catch changes early, not late
Routine testing every 2 months helps you stay ahead of health issues instead of reacting to them once they’re advanced.

DO THE MATH: YOUR BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE CLASS MIGHT BE BIGGER THAN YOUR FUTURE

Nobody wants to run these numbers, so let’s run them anyway.
Imagine a biomedical science class of 150 students. Zambia’s government hires about 10 or fewer biomedical scientists every year. At that rate, it would take 15 years just to absorb your class — and that’s if no one else was competing for those same jobs.
But you are never alone in that line. Many universities in Zambia produce biomedical science graduates every year. Add all those classes together, and the wait becomes more than 30 years before government can absorb everyone who is already qualified. And this number keeps growing, because new students join every year while the hiring rate stays almost the same.
The lesson: a healthy biomedical science class should not have more than 100 students. If your class is bigger than that, the numbers are no longer in your favor — not if a government job is your only plan.
So what should you do?
•Build skills that don’t depend on one employer — private diagnostics, lab consulting, health content creation, tutoring
•Look beyond government — private hospitals, NGOs, research institutions, pharma companies
•Start something of your own in the health space while you’re still in school
•Build your name and your network before you graduate, not after
A big class size is not a death sentence — it’s a sign to start planning differently, and to start early.
