Waking between 3 - 5am falls in the time of the Lung in Chinese medicine. It may mean your Lung Qi has become depleted or stuck.

The Lungs take the air we breathe and transform it into Qi. If the Lungs are impacted we can become Qi Deficient fast.

This can be due to physical Lung issues such as coughs and colds, asthma and shortness of breath.

It can also relate to the emotion that is connected with the Lung in Chinese medicine: grief.

Grief is said to consume the Qi, which explains why it feels so utterly exhausting.

Supporting the Lung can help ease physical respiratory issues, and it can be a useful way to nourish the body when moving through grief.

Pears are one of the best foods to support the Lungs: they soothe and moisten the Lungs.

The Lungs are one of the Channel systems that are prone to Qi Stagnation, support grief in moving through is important to prevent stagnant Qi. Finding outlets for expression can support healthy movement in grief.
