Let me re-introduce myself 💖

I’m Jaz! Curly hair specialist, educator, salon owner, wife, mum and a hairdresser of 22 years.

What started as a little girl cutting Barbie’s hair has turned into a career I’m absolutely obsessed with.

These days you’ll find me splitting my time between South Melbourne and Phillip Island, helping people embrace their natural curls and creating a little space for relaxation at Island Retreat Head Spa.

Outside of hair, I’m a wife to Corey, mum to Charlie and a lover of a good iced matcha and a sweet treat. I’m also someone who’s practicing that success isn’t always about doing more.

The request was an on shoulder bob that has shape and texture, not a bulky wedge. Some soft face framing long enough to tuck. Slightly angled at the front for tucking too. She’s got fine hair but sooooo much of it so we removed some internal weight in a curl friendly way ✨

I’m not judging… but I am noticing 😂

After years of working with curls, there are definitely a few things that make me internally die a little inside when you tell me what you’ve been doing at home.

But the thing is most curly people were never actually taught how to look after their hair.

✨You weren’t told HOW to use the products you’ve spent hundreds maybe thousands on so you assume it’s them and not you..

✨You’re expecting your curls to pop but your haircut doesn’t hold a shape that supports your desired result..

✨You’re ONLY straightening once a week but still expect your curls to bounce back every time with no extra care..

✨You bought products because they said “for curls” on the bottle..

And somewhere along the way, you probably tried about 47 different methods and taking advice from random strangers on TikTok 😂

So no, I’m genuinely not judging.

My job isn’t to make you feel bad about what you’ve been doing, it’s explaining why something might not be working and give you realistic alternatives that actually suit your curls, your lifestyle and how much effort you want to put into your hair.

I don’t believe in giving you a 14 step curl routine if you’re never going to do it 😂 Good curl education should make your hair feel easier, not more complicated.
