Some women spend so much of their lives taking care of everyone else that doing something just for themselves can feel a little unfamiliar. ❤️

Meet Wendy.

She has spent years caring for others—through her career, her family, her grandson, and now as her sister’s legal guardian. And she was very open with us about how much that responsibility and stress had begun to affect how she felt about herself.

So for one day, it was Wendy’s turn to be taken care of.

What happened wasn't only about new hair or makeup. Wendy told us afterward that she felt blessed, humbled, special and happy—and that seeing herself through someone else’s eyes helped her see her own face in a completely new way.

“I didn't put me first.” ❤️ Those were Lori Ann's words—and we have a feeling there are a lot of women who understand exactly what she meant.

Lori Ann is a wife, a mom, a best friend, and someone who loves the people in her life BIG. For years, she poured so much of herself into taking care of everyone else that somewhere along the way, she stopped paying much attention to herself.

Her hair grew... and grew... and grew. She hadn't even had it trimmed in nearly four years.

Then, through what Lori Ann calls a little divine timing, she found herself temporarily here in Minnesota, far from her home in Alaska, and an email from us happened to land in her inbox.

She had talked about doing a makeover for years.

So this time, she decided to ask.

And somehow, all the pieces fell into place. ❤️

Jamie transformed nearly four years of growth with dimensional color, a beautiful new shape, and movement that brought Lori Ann back to life. We also spent the day teaching her about her—her features, her coloring, her makeup, and how to recreate what she was seeing when she went home.

When she finally saw herself, she said:

“I'm shocked. It's everything I would have ever wanted for me.”

But what we love most about Lori Ann's story isn't simply how different she looks in these two photographs.

It's that she finally did something for herself.

A makeover isn't about turning you into somebody else. It's about understanding the woman who is already there—and sometimes helping her see herself again.

When Ann sat in our chair, she wasn't asking us to make her into somebody different. She wanted change — something softer, more feminine and a little more free — while still being able to look in the mirror and recognize herself.

How We Made Her Softer—Without Changing Who She Is ❤️ She wanted a change—but she still wanted to look like HERSELF. ❤️ C...

Sometimes the women who take the best care of everyone else forget to put themselves on the list. Lori Ann understood that.
She's a wife. A mom. A best friend. Someone who goes all-in for the people she loves.

And somewhere along the way, she realized:

“I didn't put me first."

Lori Ann and her husband live in Alaska, but they happened to be in Minnesota when an email announcing what Jamie and Kayla were creating at the Makeover Studio landed in her inbox.

She'd dreamed about having a makeover for YEARS.

There was only one problem.
They were leaving Saturday.

She thought, *What are the chances they'll have an opening?*

But she asked anyway.
And somehow... we did. ❤️

Lori Ann walked through our doors with hair she hadn't even trimmed in nearly four years.

Jamie created a gorgeous dimensional balayage and a completely new shape. We worked with Lori Ann's coloring, features, proportions, personality and the woman SHE wanted to see looking back at her.

And then something beautiful happened.

She saw herself.
Not a different woman.
Herself.

At the end Lori Ann told us the result was everything she would have wanted for herself.

THAT is why we do this.

Ann had just moved to Minneapolis. She didn't really know who we were or what happened at the Makeover Studio.
But a friend in Arizona did. ❤️

When her friend learned Ann was moving here, she got excited: You can go get a makeover!

So Ann took a chance.

She chose our Cover Makeover experience, met with Joann for her Silhouette Analysis, and then came to us for beauty.

After years as a lawyer, Ann had spent much of her professional life dressing within expectations. Now she's retired.

And the question became:

Who does Ann want to be for this next part of her life?

Softer. More feminine. A little freer.

Her features and Romantic Classic personal style told us that the harder lines of her existing haircut weren't doing everything they could for her. We talked through the possibilities and chose a softer short shag/bixie shape.

Then came makeup—something Ann was genuinely nervous about.

And she trusted us.

That's the moment we love.

Because a great makeover isn't about covering someone up or turning her into somebody else.

It's about discovering how she wants to show up now.
