When Lauryn first sang these words, they carried the hope, passion, and possibilities of a young woman still discovering herself. Years later, the notes may bend differently, the rhythm may linger longer, but to me thatโs what makes it even more beautiful.
I donโt hear a song that changed.
I hear a woman who lived.
I hear love found and lost.
I hear lessons learned the hard way.
I hear joy, disappointment, healing, growth, and survival woven between every lyric.
The younger voice gave us the story.
The older voice gives us the testimony.
Sometimes art isnโt meant to stay frozen in time. Sometimes itโs meant to travel with us, collecting scars, wisdom, and grace along the way.
