Burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart.
Sometimes it looks like being the stylist everyone thinks is killing it.
A full book.
Another Saturday added.
Lunch pushed to 3 PM—or skipped completely.
Client messages answered from the couch.
“One more Reel” before bed.
Saying yes because you’re afraid of what happens if you say no.

And slowly, a career you worked so hard to build starts taking up every part of your life.
The hardest part?
You can still love doing hair.
You can still adore your guests.
You can still be incredibly talented.
And still be exhausted.
We’ve normalized burnout in this industry for so long that sometimes we mistake it for ambition.
But working yourself into the ground isn’t proof that you want it badly enough.
And needing support doesn’t make you less driven, less talented, or less successful.
Support doesn’t make your success smaller.
It makes your success stronger.
A healthy career should give you room to grow, earn, create and still have a life when you leave the salon.
Maybe burnout isn’t just something stylists need to get better at handling.
Maybe we need to get better at building careers that don’t require it.

Making beautiful hair? We’ve got that!!

Photographing it so it actually looks as good on camera as it does in real life? That’s a whole other skill. 😂
Angles, lighting, posing, dimension, we’ve put a LOT of practice into this often overlooked part of our craft 🫶

There are a lot of things stylists are told are just “part of the job.”

Unpredictable income.
Working through lunch.
Coming in sick because you can’t afford not to.
Losing money when someone cancels.
Answering client messages after hours.
Spending your days off creating content.
Feeling guilty for taking a vacation.
Being the stylist, marketer, receptionist, photographer, bookkeeper and somehow still finding the energy to be creative behind the chair.

Somewhere along the way, surviving the industry became confused with succeeding in it.
And maybe we need to question that.
This isn’t about saying there’s only one right way to build a career in beauty. There isn’t.
Some stylists dream of owning a salon. Some want independence. Some want to build their own brand and business and they ABSOLUTELY should 👏!

BUT there are also stylists who simply want to do incredible hair, earn a great living, continue growing, have a life outside the salon, and build a career that doesn’t require them to carry an entire business alone.

That should be an option, too. 《-----

Especially for the stylist who just graduated and thinks struggling is simply the price of becoming successful.
Or the licensed stylist sitting at home wondering why something they once loved has become so exhausting.

Maybe the question isn’t:
“Can you handle this industry?”
Maybe it's:
“Why have we decided all of this has to be part of the job?”
We think our industry needs to talk about that more.
And we’re going to.

There are things about this industry we don’t talk about enough.

We talk about passion. Creativity. Building a clientele. Becoming your own boss.
But we don’t talk enough about what happens after school,when the dream of doing hair meets the reality of inconsistent income, nights and weekends, cancellations, constant marketing, admin, pressure, and the feeling that you have to figure everything out by yourself.
Some stylists want to own a business one day. Some don’t.
Some graduates are excited to build something of their own. Others are already wondering if there’s another way to have a successful career behind the chair without carrying the weight of an entire business.
Both are valid.
What matters is understanding that loving hair and wanting a sustainable career are not the same thing, and one should not have to come at the expense of the other.
A lot of talented stylists don’t leave because they stopped loving this industry.
They leave because the way they were trying to make it work became too heavy.
We think that deserves a bigger conversation.
What if success behind the chair didn’t have to mean doing everything alone?
What if there were more than one way to build a long, profitable, fulfilling career in this industry?
That’s the conversation we want to keep having.
Because future stylists deserve to know their options before burnout becomes the lesson.

Swim season is coming to an end… but what about all that chlorine?
If you’ve been swimming all summer, there’s a good chance your hair has some chlorine + mineral buildup hanging around.
Not sure if you have buildup? Look for:
● Hair that feels rough, dry, or coated
● Hair that tangles more easily than usual
● Dullness or lack of shine
●Color that seems off or won’t hold the way it normally does
● Hair that feels “heavy” even after washing
●Blondes taking on unwanted green, brassy, or muddy tones
A regular shampoo doesn’t always remove all of that build up. Call us and make an appointment for a chelating treatment and we can get all the buildup off for you
